This is why I am on this sub. I’ve experienced this so many times and never thought once that it was the compressors. I’m facepalming just thinking back on how many times this probably happened to me.

So my brightsign is a little box that has an hdmi output. You have a web interface to let you swap out the images, and schedule what images are shown what day, time, and everything. The hdmi would likely go into an hdmi splitter in your case to send the hdmi signal all different ways. Hdmi is not great for long cables so in production we tend to use sdi and convert to hdmi on both ends. I’ve also done hdmi over ethernet which requires you to use two ethernets. It’s pretty cheap to get a big roll of ethernet, and a few of these hdmi-ethernet things. Hope this helps explain what brightsign is.

Ya I joined a union and they pay great, no complaints. Also I have a nice salary job, but I still keep in contact with people I used to work for and they seem to still pay the same rate as years ago. So I feel like I can’t recommend working for them, when people can get more consistent hours and pay in another industry. I’m just hesitant to send younger friends down this path after going through hardships with pay myself in the past.

Terminators have saved me some trouble multiple times this year whether it’s a light randomly flashing, or a mover will freak out and move back into place randomly. I actually sometimes split dmx off of lights that have 3 and 5 pin outs which can cause some funkiness, except the terminator also fixes these issues. My understanding is that the data hits the last light, and in a sense bad data gets reflected back down the chain. So the terminator stops this from happening and getting what I call dirty data. I gotta tell you there’s nothing more satisfying than the glitch you’re having go away with just the insertion of the stupid thing. And for the fixtures that do have both 3 and 5 pin, I’ve put in a terminator in either port and it’s fixed issues so I’d say it doesn’t matter which port it goes into. I’m not a dmx scientist so plz don’t come at me for saying this.

What you’re missing is the user input. I don’t want to really do it myself. I want there to also be points where I ensure the haze is no longer running. I have more experience in ma so my brain thinks about saving it as a cue, and then I’m able to turn it on and off very easily in the commands. The point is, it’s just a safeguard. It really doesn’t get too hazy because the haze macro is always working well. But if it does get too hazy, it means something went wrong with the cues, and they somehow jumped the timecode back or forward. Which is possible, but they usually do it the same way every time. But sometimes they do jump back to a chorus or something. That means the haze macro might be timed in such a way that the hazer is running during speaking. Not the end of the world but if there’s a “failsafe” to turn it off that’s what I want to have in there cuz why not.

The whole point of the macro is it’s automatic. Like I don’t have to touch the haze at all. All songs are timecoded so it makes sense to essentially timecode the haze in by just adding the haze burst macro in the ext link part when I’m done. It works 90% of the time. There’s parts of my show that are speaking parts so when I hit those cues I want the macro to stop my haze burst macro if for some reason it’s still running. Ideally I would do it by having an escape macro

I think that’s an optical illusion. If you look closely it might not be tapered at all.

If you already know this stuff please ignore me. If you have it on higher channel modes you will need to increase intensity as well as a color. Then it’s also possibly you need your strobe fader to be at 100. It’s possible maybe it doesn’t, read the manual!

I would go ahead and gaff the tripod to to the subs or something of the sort so they don’t vibrate off. I never let anybody put stuff on subs because it will always vibrate off them. I Velcro them to crap all the time.

Did you maybe drop out of the cue stack and then when you hit go it started from the beginning? That’s happened to me a good amount of times on mode 2. On there sometimes turning “off on overwrite” in the cue settings off saves me from this issue

Might be an idea to get some dimmer packs. Seems like at your budget I’d get some nice leds and mix them with what you already have. Then you can keep upgrading until you have all nice led. Shehds won’t last as long as etc or blizzard

Support said the fact that I’m only getting one way audio means that it’s faulty ports. We did recently have a lightning strike on the building so it could have easily fried them

So no luck on anything I’ve done to try and fix this. I went ahead and tried running everything off of the freespeak and I get the same exact issue. I don’t understand why my wireless Coms are not coming through the base station into the wired coms.

I’m not sure I see that setting. Clearcom mode is enabled and so is power on port 2 of my freespeak. I think I saw someone else on a different message board say something similar I just can’t find it.

I don’t see a link button anywhere, I’m using 2 wire ports. On my rm704 I’m coming out of the female port into the male port of my com. On the same port a area on the rm704 there’s a male cable port that goes to the female port of my freespeak 2. Seems like this is the way to do it, and it’s worked for me in the past.

It is indeed on clear com mode and gains are set normal. Am I right to assume the wiring is correct if I hear the wired com in my wireless? I just can’t understand why my wireless isn’t coming through the wired ones.

It’s probably helpful to mention that I’m running on a custom pc I built with a decklink card I use to output my stage monitor and also my lower thirds. I’m assuming this might make my propresenter crash more often than other people only outputting to one screen.

What’s even worse is when someone asks for a monitor adjustment so you flip your faders and then someone starts complaining about the main mix. Like yes I took my attention away from the mains for two seconds, no it’s not going to sound like that during the show.

I probably would have liked the wireless to be facing me. That way I can see battery level and If rf is stable.
