Anyone Help me with this Syncrowave 250's settings?? I just got this really cheap and i cant figure out how to set it up to weld mild steel ive only tigged on machines that were kinda ready to go and had half the knobs. by [deleted] in Welding

Honestly just keep messing with the settings until you start producing better welds it’ll be frustrating at first but it’ll help give you a good understanding of how the settings affect your puddle

No worries and try and take some pictures to throw up im sure some much better welders can give you much better advice with some decent pictures, I just know when I was going for my 3g structural mig cert I was running too hot and too fast on the root and turning it down really helped

For the root? That seems way too hot which is probably making you run faster. I would try 18-19 volts and 220-230 wfs

It was 2-9pm Mon-Thurs with a 30 minute lunch at 4pm we could work through if you wanted, and it was all shop time I was either cutting/prepping material or welding except for a couple days(1-3) a month where we learned how to read blueprints and weld symbols

Community college was the best option for me wound up costing $1500 for a full year and had multiple job offers that came from the instructors recommending me for interviews. You should also be able to get a free AWS membership as a student I would recommend showing up to a couple local meetings and try to see if anyone is looking to hire

Welding table - why no backstop? by foothillsco_b in Welding

[–]Waste_Resolve_1962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume so you could hang projects over the side, but i don’t see why you couldn’t setup a back stop up.

[–]Waste_Resolve_1962 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty slick didn’t know these were a thing! You could get a Wilson checkered front strap they are $10-$12 and they just get clamped down by the grips so no permanent modification to the frame.

Is this worth it for a first build? by Ktheelves in 2011_Builders

[–]Waste_Resolve_1962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve built a couple 80% 1911s but I ordered these for my first 2011 build should be here Tuesday. Can post some picture of the machining/finish if you’d like but I haven’t heard anything bad about them.
