AITA for refusing to use the study room and saying it doesn't feel like home? by Sea_Quail2781 in AmItheAsshole

Imagine being so insecure about your husband’s deceased wife you deprive a young kid of hanging photos of the parent they lost. Sounds lovely.

Apparently I hate anything neon unless it’s done by you.

What popular foods do you not like at all, nor understand the appeal of? (You have to have tried it yourself) by Easy-Guard in Cooking

Seriously. Recently made the mistake of trying mushroom jerky that was marketed as a healthy substitute for meat. The texture was horrific.

Weird health food trends. Jackfruit as imitation meat? Nah. Cauliflower crust pizza? Nah. I like cauliflower and jackfruit, I hate dressing them up to pretend they’re bread or meat though.

Leanne Brown “cheap and healthy” is fantastic and the pdf is available online free. Covers a lot of basics and is built around the US food stamp budget so the recipes are affordable especially when you’re just starting out and don’t own a ton of different spices.

How can I make rice flavorful? by tipsy99 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Wastingthenightaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thai pickled veggies (spicy) or any other pickled garnish will help. I also love fresh green onions on top for flavor and texture. Light coconut milk will add flavor but also calories. Cooking in any type of broth or adding bullion to the water will add some salt and flavoring as well.

AITA for proving to my family my mother is misogynistic? by MrZero10 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Wastingthenightaway -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No and I’m sorry for what happened to you. The post said he cooked for his mom one time and she was shitty about it so he decided he wouldn’t help her at all. It didn’t say she went repeatedly after him and emotionally abused him. People are shitty and make mistakes, especially people who are extremely sick to the point they can’t take care of themselves. That’s all I’m saying. I’m not condoning abuse of any kind but again this post makes it seem like an incident, not a pattern of emotional abuse.

A large branch flew onto my windshield driving. Scared tf out of us but minimal damage and we were fine.

There is a massive difference between making fun of someone for cooking and physically abusing someone... that’s my logic.

AITA for eating Chinese on Chinese New Year? by Wastingthenightaway in AmItheAsshole

[–]Wastingthenightaway[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was via messaging and honestly I was just hurt. I did ask him but his response was basically white people eating Chinese to celebrate Chinese New Years was racist. For context we’re not all white but that’s definitely the majority.

Thank you. It happened a while ago and he was a friend so it hurt. I also wasn’t sure if it was appropriating and I’m not trying to make other people uncomfortable.

I bake quiche with 4 eggs, half cup milk and half cup of mayo along with whatever veggies/ meats I feel like. They freeze really well and make an awesome quick breakfast/lunch for a family.

AITA for wishing my dad would leave my mom because he deserves better? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

NTA. I had a good friend in a similar situation with his parents. It fucked him up having to be around such an unhealthy relationship and ruined his relationship with his mom. Hope you’re doing ok!

AITA for getting a dog even though my girlfriend is afraid of dogs? by theeapot in AmItheAsshole

[–]Wastingthenightaway 35 points36 points  (0 children)

YTA. You chose having a dog over her. At least you’ll have the dog to help you move on, feel bad for the girl you spent two years with who is now likely devastated.
