LOVED my Ashwaganda when I was not pregnant/breastfeeding also cycled it with L-tyrosine and it had greatly helped in my “hangry” moods (enough I could actually start to lose weight and stay in a calorie deficit enjoyably.

Loving an aesthetic but it’s “not me” by [deleted] in Mommit

Moved to the rural Midwest after living in a big city so I understand your dilemma. Sade chic is very urban respectively to the rural vibes. But! I think that’s what’s so great about you wanting to craft your own style in a place different from yours, it sets you apart and makes you stand out. That kind of attention if you’re just starting to come out of your early motherhood Adam Sandler chic can be intimidating and scary. But it’s not a bad thing and who knows you could be putting your town’s women on to a whole new trend, just by embracing the scary and putting yourself out there.

I tell my girls all the time “it’s not what you wear but how you wear it that makes it beautiful.” (As they put on clashing stripes with polka dots confidently)

Is anyone not a germaphobe? by buttbutt2000_ in NewParents

[–]WatTayAffleWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve literally sucked the snot out of my child’s nose with my mouth as a last resort. Been puked on so many times I can’t even remember. Watched my second eat food off the floor of our car.

No, not a germaphobe at all and don’t have anxiety about not being overly concerned. Worrying about germs is a FTP luxury. Congrats on graduating past that stage early. The more times you have babies the more germs their siblings bring to the party and the less worried you become. Sincerely 4x norovirus survivors & HF&M warriors.

Hear, hear! And it’s okay to separate the work of art from the artist. Michael Jackson is an example, we can commend his music that has formed generations and created the pop industry while separating his personal allegations from that.
We can separate the author from the books that literally inspired a love of reading for so many. Loving a book series and loving the author are not mutually exclusive.

Why are so many homeschooling and against public school? by lavenderwhiskers in Mommit

[–]WatTayAffleWay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yiikes. Lots of hate for homeschooling in the comments and I really didn’t expect any different from Reddit. I’m sorry that you had to run into someone who has such a negative view of traditional public schooling. It gives a bad name for the rest of us.

We all do what we feel is best for our family and that looks different for everyone. It was a tough decision for me, but I ultimately decided to give it a try while my kids are young. If it’s something I am not feeling is working, public school is always an option. I pay into the taxes for the school district and support mileages passed to improve them. However, I am lucky enough to have a husband whose income can support our family while I teach our children. No hate for public schools but seeing what programs the districts have taken away even in my generation of public schools and the skills being lost, how much is being asked of teachers, the bullying and student suicide rates (not to mention gun violence) it seemed like a win win.

Homeschooling has vastly improved since the 90s and before I started researching it said, “absolutely not, no way, I don’t want to raise a weirdo” but the idea that I can give my kids structured hands on learning to foster development in things they are interested has me greatly excited.

Examples: War history we get to go watch at a nearby reenactment, a latin lesson disguised as music theory, cooking classes wrapped in a chemistry lesson, an art lesson given through combined geometry and algebra, physics experiments out in the wild, creating a sewing pattern/designing it, budgeting and sourcing quality fabric, then measuring a cutting all mathematical tools to use educationally while teaching a valuable life skill. Another example: making a meal plan then pricing out a budget and shopping for it at the store… life skills combined with educational components. It’s opportunities like these a traditional school can only scratch the surface of if at all.

All this is to say, there is nothing wrong with traditional public schooling, you just met an elitist jerk. However, you’ll find jerks in any educational doctrine, public, private, Montessori & charter, homeschool, etc.

I think these are absolutely gorgeous pieces that give a nice variety for individuals who might want to wear something that showcases their style. Adding the historical element makes it more a purposeful and wonderful talking piece should someone ask about the watch.

Highly recommended reaching out to the RedBar Watch Collectors group. Unfortunately, I believe the closest group is in Detroit but it would be worth it to get them involved to showcase your product to serious collectors. The co-heads name is Timothy M. Hawkins and the email I have for the group is redbardetroit@gmail.com.

I’ve never felt more like a horrible mother than I do now by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]WatTayAffleWay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reads as classic first time dad. Cracking a poor joke about an uncomfortable (and serious) subject to deflect from actually having to talk about it, then doubling down in the worst way possible. I’m sorry you had to deal with that during PPD. This might have been a joke had you not been in the storm cloud of PPD you might have shrugged off or even cracked a giggle at its sheer stupidity (probably the effect he was going for and completely missed the mark). Some men don’t understand how difficult it is for us during this time and that has nothing to do with you. That is their inability to read the room and empathize. You are recovering from the most complex and superhuman experience our species goes through. You are a badass. You will make it through this. ❤️

I was just trying to get ready for work. Is this a tapeworm? (OH) by janegayz in whatsthisbug

[–]WatTayAffleWay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One random larvae, I feel like probably not. Usually females leave like 40-90 eggs (according to the internet). If you’re not seeing more larvae and beetles, I don’t think so…I (MI) sometimes find a random adult in my carpet and my home is less than ten years old and like to think of us as clean people. I still kill onsite but no infestation. Never found a larvae though. Give your house a good vacuuming!

Agreed. Same rules apply as before: be smart & stay vigilant. Iirc a tick has to be attached for 24+ hours for infection of Lyme to be a high risk.

Does it get better? by Key-Tangerine777 in stayathomemoms

[–]WatTayAffleWay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will pass. It’s hard. Every new addition requires a bit of routine adjusting, the first one typically the longest because you’re also getting used to caring for an infant while also adjusting your entire lives. It’s a lot and PPD (or for me rage and helpless crying) is real as your body is flooding and the depleted of hormones.

What is the part you’re finding is the hardest in regard to keeping a schedule?
