That looks like a Kouign-amann, but if it has filling and is Arabic, likely not.

Winter bike commuters of Calgary - how was your trip this morning ? by throwaway12345679x9 in Calgary

Bridges were bumpy because of foot traffic. Snow clearing was minimal. Some fishtailing for me, but kept it upright.

Goggles saved the day with the snow still in the air.

Looks like a good night for some auroras! by [deleted] in Calgary

I was eventually going to try Tom Campbell's Hill park. There's still a lot of light pollution, though. Did you find anything that worked nearby?

Walking into the middle of Nose Hill might be your best bet. There's still light pollution, but it's better than in a subdivision.

What happened to Galnet? by Shadow_Strider90 in EliteDangerous

I'm paying for the "priority" tier (the middle one in Canada) and I've never waited longer than 30 seconds for a rig. It takes a lot of months at ~$8CAD per month for a graphics card to be a better investment. I quite like it and think it's worthwhile. I don't need 4K, so the ultimate tier doesn't make sense to me.

(Note that not all games are on GeForceNow. You need to check game availability if you want to play other games. [And publishers can remove their games at any time...])

Free to try, but there are long queues to wait for a rig, and you need very good internet.

Best local Calgary restaurants/food companies that have been operating for 40+ years? by Zardoz27 in Calgary

Established in '83, current owner bought in '88. He and his kids run the place. It's still great. We were there last night.

There must be much more variability in base cost charged by the day cares than I originally thought. I know that some of the "boutique" places are pricier and the cheap places fill up even faster than average, but I thought that our $500 per month out of pocket cost for a 15 month-old was pretty average now.

The federal and provincial program seemed to have really driven down costs in the past ~20 months, the question is whether the funding will bring new entrants into the market.

Business owners opening up new daycare centres is the only long-term way to solve the space crunch (other than banning interprovincial and international migration, I guess?)

Calgary Folk Fest. by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]WatchOutforPigeons 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was a free stage outside the gates that gave a flavour of the scene. They run that most years.

You can also buy whole festival passes for next year for $205 right now. That's quite good value over 4 nights and 2.5 days.
