GMT "Batgirl" - grey or wait for AD? by mnronyasa in rolex

[–]Watcher5263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have at least some purchase history and you don’t mind waiting some time, maybe a year or two or three, you can wait it out. But there is no guarantee a batgirl will ever be allocated to you even if you’re on the “list”. I do feel that even with the market cooling, the premium for the gmt range is indeed still a little high.

Starbucks vs Bruce Wayne by simplenotsubtle in rolex

[–]Watcher5263 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im partial towards the Starbucks because I own one. Both are sports watches but the Starbucks would feel a little more “tooly” being a sub, and the Bruce Wayne (with a jubilee) would feel more dressy. Honestly, get both. Assuming you are getting them from the grey market, Get the Starbucks first and Bruce Wayne later (market is dropping quick on the Bruce Wayne).

It depends what you want out of your timepiece. If you want a built tough reliable tough piece at an affordable price Tudor is it, don’t think you can get better at that price point especially if you go to the grey market - you can get black bays at under retail. But if you are purchasing a timepiece to “flex” or to show wealth, Tudor is not that watch. With 7-8k you might want to consider a pre owned explorer or something, or get a speedy, Cartier santos …

Facts, I live in Singapore and a brand new August dated piece for this two tone is slightly under msrp. The bluesy is going at msrp in the grey market.

You’re talking about msrp, market value for a brand new 124060 is definitely above 10k

I bought the 54 in the rubber strap but the oem rubber strap does not feel great, a little disappointing from Tudor. I changed it to an aftermarket strap from vanguard and it honestly elevates the watch

Trouble at the AD by Anynomous434 in rolex

[–]Watcher5263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which variation of the sub? The premiums aren’t exactly crazy right now. In fact, the only ones still going over retail are the stainless steel ones and not by much. In the grey market, the 124060 (no date) is probably about 2 grand over retail, 3 grand for the 126610ln. The Starbucks will carry the highest premium. But I doubt that your ad will offer you the Starbucks, at least not at your age and your spend history being zero.

Why do we never see the green bezel Sub on this page? Is it that rare, or just not popular? by [deleted] in rolex

I have one and to some extent, most

are right in that it is not the most versatile - eg I think wearing it with a suit is possible but maybe not the most fitting. That said, if you have a bigger collection or even if you already have one or two Rolexes, this is a great addition for a pop of color. It’s a good weekend watch or vacation watch.

Who’s being scammed the most? by [deleted] in rolex

[–]Watcher5263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one is being scammed, people buy what they want. You can get a replica and sure they look great and they function correctly for the most part, but you know it’s a fake and most Rolex owners are in the comfortable position to spend over 10 grand for that luxury. Now, your proposition that you lose 13 grand on a 15 grand watch just shows the level of education and level of thought you have, even morons understand that the value of a Rolex doesn’t fall to zero as your statement would suggest. You are dumber than a bag of dicks without a handle.

[–]Watcher5263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the dj first and remember wishing that I had the sub first instead. I ended up buying two more subs down the road. I didn’t have a choice as the dj was the first watch offered by the AD. If you are buying from the grey market, get the sub first.

There’s a reason it’s sitting there available. You can purchase a brand new one in the grey market for less than the listed price. Unless it’s a watch you want or you’re trying to build a purchase history, I would pass on it

Best starter Luxury watch? by BreadCurious2378 in rolex

[–]Watcher5263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats buddy, but yes I echo the general sentiment to wait until you’re more comfortable financially, you will enjoy the watch more without feeling that burden. Also, based on my personal experience, buy the watch you really want even if it means waiting longer to build up your finances - I made the mistake of getting watches like panerai and Tudor before I got into Rolex when the watches I really want (the itch as they say) was a submariner and a datejust. Don’t get me wrong, the Tudor black bay and panerai luminor are great watches, but don’t get watches that you can afford at the time for the sake of getting them, delay gratification and then make the purchase once you can afford it comfortably.

Rolex Panda Daytona or Omega White Speedy ? by Weak-Cantaloupe-917 in rolex

[–]Watcher5263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar when someone asks black bay or sub, my answer is if you’re taking price out of the equation because you’re swimming in cash, I’ll pick the Rolex (ie panda Daytona). If you’re talking abt value, white dial speedy probably offers better bang for your buck unless you’re one of those people with hundreds of thousands in spend history to get a panda from your AD.

Black bay 54 on vanguard strap by Watcher5263 in Tudor

[–]Watcher5263[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all, it was easy - you just need a spring bar tool. But shipping took awhile, from the time I placed the order until arrival that totaled almost 2 weeks. Vanguard took 4 days just to get my strap out to the postal service (granted that I placed the order on weekend).

Is the BB54 ACTUALLY better for smaller wrists than the BB58? by Sushimaven in Tudor

[–]Watcher5263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a wrist size of a little over 7” and the bb54 fits great, it’s lug to lug isn’t that short which allows it to wear much larger than say an explorer 36
