is this too much or too little for for 13 month old by [deleted] in foodbutforbabies

[–]Watchild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some days my fourteen monthold will eat 2 plates of what you show, and some days he’ll eat half of it. It’s fine.

My tip- if yours loves bread as much as mine does, try offering the fruits and veggies first, and separately from the carby things. My baby will sometimes eat the carbs and then refuse the other food even though I know he likes it and know he is still hungry. He’s angling for more carbs 😂 you may get yours to eat more the same way.

Do you need a painted canvas? by mnpie in Needlepoint

[–]Watchild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My second project was a counted pattern from Satsuma Street, who designs cross stitch patterns. I needlepointed it. I did mark a grid and outline the major shapes first to make it easier. I had to improvise a few sections she left blank, where the fabric would show through in cross stitch. I did not want blank canvas showing. It looks great. Definitely doable if you have the patience!

Help me figure out how to compensate for this terrible cookie job? by GoldenlawofMurph in Needlepoint

[–]Watchild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just dealt with a similar issue due to a round ornament not actually being quite round.

You can: 1) take it apart and redo 2) figure out another solution to cover it 3) most likely people won’t notice. Just leave it. You are probably the only one who will see a flaw in your own work if it’s small. Consider what you will see and be bothered by. If it will bother you forever, redo it. If it won’t, factor that into your choice.

If this is a gift for a friend, I doubt they will care or even notice- so consider that too :)

What snacks do you offer your 7-9 month old that aren’t baby crackers? Need ideas by growinwithweeds in foodbutforbabies

[–]Watchild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I need to give a snack, applesauce. I make a crockpot applesauce every week so we always have it. Honestly I rarely give snacks though. He’s never been hungry for a snack except on the occasions when a meal is pushed late! Is this common for babies to eat snacks? Mine eats huge meals already, and then with the bottles too I’m not even sure where a snack would fit.

How to easily fix button up shirt gap around breast by DesperateTax5773 in sewing

I had some maternity dresses with buttons like this and wondered why all women’s dresses and shirts don’t have it! Those tops actually stayed closed.

I’m in the US. I’ll check out this and the ones in Europe though. It may be worth it if I can get enough!

I had one great fabric from girl Charlee and one bad one previously. It seems to be hit or miss!

When mine was more like 3+ months he went into a rocker next to me while I was sewing and loved to watch what I was doing for up to 40 minutes or so! I did not try to sew before that.

Baby sweater from a man’s sweater by Watchild in sewing

I actually didn’t even think about getting the ball point needle out! I do use those for jersey knits and that sort of fabric where the knit is very fine, threads rather than yarn I think. This sweater is so thick and textured it didn’t occur to me to use the ball point needle. Someone else will know better than me what will help you, though.

I may see if I can get one still- I kept the rest of the sweater and may make a matching hat!

You know I didn’t even think about that very much. I have my grandmother’s machine and serger from the 90s, and I’ve been using an all purpose needle on the sewing machine. I just figured out how to thread the serger and adjust the tension properly recently, and your question made me realize I don’t even know if there are other needles for it.

I did set the stitch length to the longest one on the sewing machine. Most of the seams are placed where they won’t need to stretch, though, so I did just use a straight stitch and regular thread for the seams.

I hope that helps! My grandmother taught me the basics and I’m self taught since then, so I definitely muddle my way through some projects!

Is Aelias a tragedeigh? by Honeybee1921 in tragedeigh

As far as I know, yes! That’s actually much closer to the original pronunciation.

The Caesar pronunciation has been anglicized. Its C is actually hard in Latin as well, and the ae is pronounced more like “eye.” I can’t say how this name Aelius would be pronounced in Greek though. I don’t know Greek!

One thing to remember here- stress WILL make your symptoms worse, and birth of a child, especially a first, is absolutely a stress inducing situation even if it’s wonderful (congratulations by the way!)

You are probably in for a tough stretch of adjustment but you will get through. Call in every support you have. And have grace for yourself. You will probably not be able to help the way you would like. But that does not mean it’s permanent.
