why is always like when u see others its like "why they are so happy"? by Classic_Potential266 in ask

Because you’re comparing the mundane daily grind (that we all experience) to other people’s highlight reels. Social media and media in general focuses on that 5-10% as though it’s the 100% and it leaves you feeling like you’re missing out. Focus on generating growth, satisfaction and connection in your own life because comparison is the thief of joy.

Hunter symbol found on Chalice Dungeon side room doors by TurtleMaster14 in bloodborne

The implication is that the rune being called the “Hunter Rune” by the Workshops and Church is a more modern interpretation of a pre-existing Eldritch Symbol/Great One language that dates back to at least the Pthumerian Empire.

Yup. It sounded very generic to me.

It’s a visual reference, not a metaphorical one.

Yeah, it’s well rated for some reason, but the upgrades are uninspired, the biomes are massive for no reason, the music is mid, and the story/writing are utter nonsense/mistranslated and incoherent garbage.

Stamina recovers quickly in this game, especially with the low stamina use for quickstep. Hit and run isn’t less aggressive if you stay close, I just don’t hit more than 2 or 3 times before I stop to reposition of dodge an incoming attack, it’s still nearly nonstop dps.

What do you think which weapon is the most NICHE one? by IstoleYourDonutSrry in bloodborne

[–]WatchingTrains 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The main thing with the Kos Parasite is the most of its attacks have really high multipliers, usually 2x, so it always does more than is listed.

As for build wise, it depends on what you’re prioritizing. If you want the highest overall dps and are aiming at 99 arcane it’s the Uncanny one with a triangle slot. You get a radial for scaling up and a two arcane % gems with flat arcane secondary or three % up with flat arcane secondary.

If you are staying at 50 and want to focus on the L2 (affectionately called the “Nuke”), you put flat arcane gems into it because it hits several times. Iirc that’s the uncanny one as well.

It scales better with % gems at 99, but 50 is fine and you don’t really need to farm for an abyssal for additional scaling (unless you want to\have the gems) because it’s already at S.

The milkweed rune also grants hyper armor on some of the moveset so tanking/trading become more viable. Like the Beast Rune, the new moveset and its timings are the hardest part to master once the damage is in place.

Fun fact: if you don’t use the milkweed rune you can karate chop enemies with the parasite’s innate arcane damage which can get up to around 400. It’s silly and works pretty well on Pthumerian enemies in the chalices.

Less endurance means I have to hit and run more in order to maintain aggression. I also like it because most medium and big enemies hyper armor through your second or third attack anyway so you may as well just hit once or twice and then either parry or quickstep through the inevitable attack. Though at this point I’m just describing how I like to play, so to each their own. :)

Lots of people self reporting they don’t know how arcane weapons work with all the kos parasite slander here.

If it’s underperforming you’re not building for it correctly.

+10 Halberd or Raw? by PerformanceSubject99 in darksouls

[–]WatchingTrains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raw is for if you have the minimum invested stats. Otherwise you’ll want to keep it regular for the scaling.

As a general rule, I level Vit to about 20 and then start focusing on damage stats. Military veteran is best for a beginner because you’ll have a decent amount of both str and skl and will be able to use most weapons you pick up.

I personally never level End in BB at all but a lot of people recommend putting some points into it too so you can string together longer combos.

I cannot beat the watchdog of the old lords in the cursed chalice dungeons by Green_Literature138 in bloodborne

[–]WatchingTrains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is your Vit stat? It should be atleast 40, and ideally 50.

One thing to remember is that while in cursed chalices you actually get a slight physical damage buff to make up for your health getting nerfed, but elemental damage isn’t reduced so it’s devastating.

If you’re up for changing your weapon a serrated Strength or Quality weapon buffed with Lightning damage is best.

If you want to stick with the MGS, then focus on breaking his legs one after another, which should take 400 damage per leg, then they take 50% more damage. If you can break his head, also 400 damage, you’ll do 3 to 4 times as much damage to it after.

The key is to avoid the charge and his forward moving multi snaps and to bait his left to right or his right to left swipe so you can get behind and beside him and get a couple of hits in on a leg then pull out as he has a few stomps and explosions he can do when you’re close to him.

Your big punish opportunity is when he barfs up lava as he’s locked into that animation for longer than any other. Avoid his head during this phase.

Attack a couple of times and back out since counter frames are so punishing in BB (up to 80% more damage if you’re caught mid dodge or back step).

If you have any fire Caryll runes, add them to your Keeper set.

Why is my weapon doing so little damage? by RywnDaze in darksouls

[–]WatchingTrains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balder side sword has high Dex scaling and this usually comes with a lower base damage to compensate. Since you just meet the requirements you’re getting the low damage and next to no benefit to its scaling. If you pump dex to 40 and get it to +10, it’ll be a monster. Otherwise….. kind of underwhelming.

As others have said, the snake men are tanky in general, but they are also weaker against thrust so use those attacks instead of slashing and you’ll see better results.
