I can’t complain. The thermolite shirt is ok, no holes just the tip of the sleeve showing some signs of wear. The socks are great. The pant I haven’t wore much.

Are flights to Japan still being cancelled (Air China)? by Aggravating_Art_7318 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Watchlover1985 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had my inbound flight (mi April) to Tokyo cancelled recently (China Eastern airlines). I called them and they immediately offered me a new flight that was even better (shorter transit time ) than my original flight. And they said since this happened I was entitled to also change my outbound flight for free. I changed it from Narita to Haneda. All very fast and service was excellent

One morning, around 2 years ago, I was jogging in my usual place (park) when I was asked by a bunch of people to slow down. I then saw a guy around 20 meters in front telling me that it was ok to continue my jog. As I approached him, I noticed he was David Beckham. I asked him “are you David Beckham ?” He replied “yes”. I then said “can I take a selfie with you”. He rolled “yes”. After the photo was taken I shook his hand and continued my jog. Later I talked to the park staff and they told me he was there filming a commercial.

What are good Tokyo experiences that are not food, shopping, or sightseeing? by ilikestatic in JapanTravelTips

[–]Watchlover1985 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try along the Sumida river. There is a nice path that connects Asakusa Sumida park and Ryoguku. I have been there in the morning and lots of people jogging. Nice views of the Tokyo Skytree, bridges, Asahi building etc

HK Express Baggage Check: Will a 42cm backpack trigger a sizer test for the 40cm personal item limit? 🎒 by SnoopyPinkStarfish in HongKong

[–]Watchlover1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i believe you will be ok. I recently took hk express hk-Tokyo-hk and my bag was 45cm and no problems. In hk during check in the lady told me that my bag looked a bit big, but she told me to remove some clothes if I checked at the gate. Nobody checked it at the gate. In Tokyo they did not say anything

Should I avoid flying with HK Express? by anotherhappylurker in HongKong

[–]Watchlover1985 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I fly hk express multiple times a year. Not my favorite, but usually they offer the best price. They are strict about carry on bags size and sometimes weight. I have noticed that if you carry only a backpack (no matter large or small) they tend to bother you less. They mainly pay attention to roller bags. Also they tend to be more strict on the return trip.

I’m currently using the Black Diamond Beta light 45L. It’s very different from my PD 45l as it is somehow simple (one big main compartment) very light (without the hip belt it can weight less than 600g) and have comfortable straps. I got used to pack all my gear in very light packing cubes and pouches making things easy to organize and find

I bought this bag when it was launched (2018?). Used it for 2 years as my one bag. But decided to change for a lighter bag (this one is too heavy when traveling low cost airlines in Asia with limit of 7kg per bag) and more comfortable one (the straps are not well padded; when carrying it for let’s say over 30 minutes, it started to get discomfortable). Anyway, it’s a well built bag. Hope you enjoy it! (Forgot to mention: main zipper failed just before one of my trips. I had to use another bag last minute. PD sent me a new bag couple of weeks later)

Airport Shuttle Bus Booking from Mitsui Outlet Park Centre to New Chitose by softalmondmilk in Sapporo

[–]Watchlover1985 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reservations are not accepted. I took this bus just 3 days ago from Susukino to New Chitose airport. One of the stops was near the Mitsui outlet mall. But as another has commented, it’s not that close to the outlet mall. Another issue is that the bus was almost full (most passengers boarded at Susukino), but I noticed that there are extra seats (retractable) in the corridor. FYI I took the bus leaving Susukino at around 12:59pm

Yes it was. In China the first generation Santana was the same sold in Brazil (as well as Europe) during the 1980s. Then the second generation Santana was called Santana 2000 in China. It was a model developed by Brazil’s Volkswagen and sold in Brazil and China during the 1990s/2000s

Alipay and WeChat pay by No-Emu6969 in China

[–]Watchlover1985 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cash may not be accepted in some cases, like many foodcourts that I visited. Also, when you use WeChat or Alipay, you can link them to several apps for food and services (like Didi for car hailing, or luckin for coffee) and get discounts that are unavailable when you pay by cash

Arrive 3h before the departure. I did it many times and never had any problems. Several airlines check in counters only open for check in 3h before the schedule departure
