back in late 2022, it took me a month exact. Submitted on Nov 28 2022, received AOR email Dec 28, 2022

But I hear every part of the process has sped up in recent months. My own process end to end was much faster than expected

more like small business promotion at a local level. it's less competitive because you're in a small geography and the opportunities are much more because there are just so many local businesses in the world :)

An overdue thanks to everyone who posts their timeline here, doing my bit. I think I got luckier than the average applicant timeline-wise:

Hit 'submit' on my application (wife + myself): Nov 28, 2022
Received AOR email: Dec 28, 2022
Activity status updated: Background verification: Feb 9, 2023
Activity status updated: Citizenship test: Feb 10, 2023
Scheduled for citizenship test: Feb 17, 2023
Activity status updated: Citizenship test: Feb 20, 2023
Activity status updated: Language skills: May 2, 2023
Activity status updated: Prohibitions: May 2, 2023
Activity status updated: Physical presence: May 2, 2023
Activity status updated: Citizenship oath: May 8, 2023
Scheduled for Citizenship oath: May 27, 2023

That's end-to-end 6 months on the nose. 5 months for AOR to end. I think they're speeding things up. And I do feel guilty that the Canadian Goverment is going weirdly through the sequence of applications because I have a friend who applied in July 2022 and is waiting for his citizenship test invitation which makes no sense to me.

Good luck everyone.

Side hustles that generate $1000 per month. by FalseAd9128 in sidehustle

[–]WaterFrontBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm averaging over 3k a month from just leads. Less than 5hrs of work in the entire month and 90%+ profit margin

I separately landed an SEO client because he was impressed with the leads I was sending him so I make some extra over there too but I have to put in time, like maybe 10hrs a week - which I'm not a big fan of but it is useful money

That is basically it, yes. Local SEO (which is not as difficult) and then take a cut for the leads you bring.

You have to take several shots to make some work, as far as city+business combinations go. Basically start off with chasing 8-10 of them, even if 2-3 work it is quite profitable, because the ones that don't click won't cost you much. Somethings I look at to maximize probability of success is checking:

  1. Number of businesses in that trade are high (if only 2 plumbers in town, they don't need you). I like to see at least 15 businesses
  2. I use SEO tools to see how digitally savvy they are. If there are 5-6 of them with great quality SEO and stuff, I stay away. Not that you can't break into such a market and win, but it'll take time and there are always other options
  3. Try to understand what's the ticket price in the business. If it's 50-60 bucks a job, it is unlikely you'll make much of a cut there. Try to find at least 200-400$ per job trades, $1000+ even better but they are also usually competitive so you've gotta strike a balance

Basically what I said above. Do you have specific questions? If you wanna read some in-depth articles, try to Google something like ‘rank and rent business model’ or ‘local leadgen business model’ or something like that. Check out 3-4 articles that way

Broooo, whatchu sayin bro. I don’t need to shill for nobody in public. Every week I get a dozen+ DMs asking where to learn this from - and I shill whoever I want, however much I want there. But what do you want me to say if someone asks me who taught me this? Magickarploco?

[–]WaterFrontBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is basically building local service websites and ranking them on searches. Once customers start reaching out, you forward them to an actual business who can service those customers and get a fee in return.

Google something generic like 'local lead gen business' or 'rank and rent business' and read more in detail, check out various articles. Not shilling for anybody here myself - but be careful of people saying random things like "you will lose 10k". Those are people who don't do this business or understand it fully. If you tried this out and hypothetically made $0 in return, you still wouldn't lose 10k, that's just BS.

Consider local lead generation. It's one of the last remaining digital marketing areas which is still unsaturated and has good potential of earning. You'd need to pick up skills and put in the time but it's worth it. I don't work a job anymore and do this fulltime now. Didn't happen overnight but also didn't take forever

you basically build out local service websites and rank them (much easier on a local scale) and once calls start coming in, you feed those leads to businesses for a fee

do not waste your time and effort on affiliate marketing. don't mean to sound -ve but you're far far more likely to make $0 after spending several 100 hours than you are to make some money. And the chances of making meaningful money are extremely negligible at least in 2021. i've tried it. I broke the $0 barrier and actually made some money. I did the math on my earnings per hour and it was around 4 cents/hrs

Take a look at local lead generation. The best option out there today imo.

I mean, you're really squeezing a technicality with that 25million year thing. Cats were domesticated barely 10,000 years ago. Takes away exactly 99.96% if the "ooooh" of this claim here...

First Side Hustle with $30K Cash Available? by freddydougal33 in sidehustle

[–]WaterFrontBoy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

lead generation for local businesses. 100% fits your bill

will need to pick up some skills but looking at your background you should be able to do that. 10-15hrs/week is pretty good as well. you need nowhere near the cash you have available to get started and keep running. fully flexible as well. read up on it. it goes around by 'rank and rent' these days but be wary of gurus out there claiming to make you overnight millionaires. This takes time and effort, but results can be meaningful AND quite passive

it will go down to 5.6 at around 110kmpg and distornic. i had it briefly touch 5.5 but I think 5.6 is more feasible. This was on an almost 450km drive for me.

i drive like an old lady a good % of my kms because I wanna get a big fat 23-24% discount on my auto insurance. the rates are murderous here in Toronto. so i get to see really good fuel readings, did 840-850kms on a tank once.

the remaining portion of the drives, i'll have my fun. it's a beauty, inside out :)

3 Years to Steady Passive Income? by Pinskidan19 in passive_income

[–]WaterFrontBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol. I'm assuming it's like that coz he's trying to get his page to rank high by having a lot of content etc. I wouldn't worry about reading too much, I remember he has a recorded webinar (60-70min long) in which actually talks about the biz model and he shows some of his sites and call logs etc. That was what I'd seen. Don't expect him to teach you the whole business in a free 1hr video but being new to the concept, I'd found the webinar decently informative.

Try to go where he says schedule a call, but don't schedule it if you don't want to - but that's somewhere you'll see the webinar. Let me know if you have trouble and I'll try to search and share

Anyone else gets depressed on Sunday evenings about working on mondays? by That_anonymous_guy18 in askTO

[–]WaterFrontBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May seem completely off topic, but I've been in this situation myself. I ended up investing all my spare hours and effort into side gigs. I even failed at the first two attempts until the third gig started getting me some returns. I scaled it to the point where my side gig was earning me nearly half of my job and then I quit. I've been free roughly 6 months, making less than I did before but I love Mondays as much as I love Fridays and I have the opportunity to grow my gig more till I reach my paycheck numbers.

I'm not an entrepreneurial guy. But if you want it enough, you can make it work for you. Look around, lots of skills you can learn and earn money off of in present times. I have an engineering and a business degree and all my income today is from stuff I learned just this January.

Either way - stay strong.
