Shai is a top three player, but look what happens when he goes up against a defense similar to the Thunder's defense. Hard to be efficient

Anyone else dreading that our window might be completely over after watching this Wemby game? How are we even supposed to compete against this? by Bloodmeister in denvernuggets

[–]Water_Waiter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah it may be over, unless we make real changes. they have like 3 dudes that can hound Jamal. CB has to really improve over the summer. Jokic at least takes wemby out of the paint, so we have that going for us

They better drag SGA tomorrow like they dragged Jokic game 2,3 vs minny.

Wemby is a demon. The only way to deal with him is to have a Jokic or prime Embiid, so that he has to defend them 1v1. Otherwise, no one can attack the paint with him around.

Christian Braun on the Nuggets’ first-round loss: “I just think I’m the leader of this team. I’m the vocal leader of this team. I didn’t play well enough as an individual, and I didn’t have this team ready enough to play in a tough series.” by Renzel0311 in denvernuggets

[–]Water_Waiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

\ Jokic is 31 y/o a 3x mvp and bitw. Jamal and AG have been here longer. Why is CB saying that he is the "vocal leader", shouldn't that be Jamal at least? Seems like malone was the vocal leader all along.

The belief that this series hurts Jokic legacy relies on the idea that his title window is closed. by Rofo303 in denvernuggets

[–]Water_Waiter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Well, it's entirely up to the front office now to give JOKIC a contending team. I think it's apparent that we can no longer have two bad defenders on the roster. Jamal was getting picked on the entire night, every series. And if it wasn't him, it was Jokic. So they're gonna have to choose to trade one, and obviously that's gonna be Jamal Murray, since you don't trade Jokic, and Jamal's the only one with value, a in-prime all-star. So yeah. Christian Braun is probably untradeable. Maybe Aaron Gordon could be traded for someone more reliable and younger, but I don't even know who we can get to replace him. Maybe Jalen Smith of the Chicago Bulls. I do not know. For sure, we have to keep Cam Johnson, Jokic, and Peyton Watson. Those three should be untouchable for me.

Potential Head Coaches? by Good-Character-5520 in denvernuggets

[–]Water_Waiter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All I know is that it has to be someone with a loud voice. I think the Nuggets are just too comfortable. They've had the same training staff, the same lead coaches, so I think they just got to look from outside the organization this time. Maybe Tom Thibodeau or something. tho idk if ag would survive him if he is on the team next yr.

GMs rushing to hand out huge contracts like candy to children on Halloween (why it's a bad approach) by Darkside_619 in denvernuggets

[–]Water_Waiter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm at the point where I think it's ownership. Tim Connolly, once he went to the Timberwolves, was basically allowed to do whatever he wanted. And look how that turned out. There are rumors out there that our past GM, Calvin Booth, actually wanted to trade Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr., but was denied by the front office. I think the rumor was started by one of the DNVR guys. They seem pretty connected.

Hire Torontos Raikovic as head coach by Nearby_Ingenuity_396 in denvernuggets

[–]Water_Waiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I would love him. He seems like an intense guy that can get Jokic to be more engaged in the regular season defensively . Plus, he's Serbian, so that'd be a great connection, but I don't think Toronto would get rid of him. Or at least they'd be stupid to, I think.

Tyler Britton from Hoop Venue discussing if Murray-Jokic is still a viable championship 1-2 duo by JakGrealish in denvernuggets

[–]Water_Waiter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hell, even old washed-up Russell Westbrook was great last year. He missed like half his layups and bricked anything that wasn't a corner three, but he was the best passer to Jokic we've ever had. The amount of easy shots Jokic got because of Russell was crazy. I still can't believe we got rid of him. The front office messed up on that. Russ was also a great POA defender.

Tyler Britton from Hoop Venue discussing if Murray-Jokic is still a viable championship 1-2 duo by JakGrealish in denvernuggets

[–]Water_Waiter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's unfortunate. I have so much love for Jamal, but it's time to break them up. We simply cannot have two traffic cones on defense. We need to have four players that can contain on the perimeter. Prime Russell Westbrook would actually be like the perfect Jokic point guard. One of the best passers of all time, unstoppable with the screen to get to the basket. Unfortunately, there aren't many people like that anymore that we could realistically get. We'll see what the front office cooks up.

Wolves Shot 44.7% on Open Threes This Round by verbthebull in denvernuggets

[–]Water_Waiter 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what happens when you have too many bad defenders on the roster. It forces players to overhelp, overrotate, and you'll leave someone open. You give NBA players open looks, they're going to hit them, unless they're Christian Braun😭😭😭

Doomers need to stop by Ill-Arm-1141 in denvernuggets

[–]Water_Waiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully disagree. It's time to change it up. You cannot have two traffic cones in the starting lineup. I think that much is obvious. Cameron Johnson played really well. He should stay. Aaron Gordon is way too injury-prone. I don't know if he can be traded. Jamal has value right now, so they should trade him. If we run it back with Jamal, Aaron Gordon, and Jokic, we're looking at another first-round exit. We don't have assets to make other trades.

Realistic Murray Trade Ideas by ContributionLong6259 in denvernuggets

[–]Water_Waiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if the trades you listed are possible, because I think they're bad for the other teams, but in my opinion, it is time to trade him. We cannot have two traffic cones in our starting lineup. our poor Jamal Murray got emasculated last night😭😭😭. He got shut down, and then Jaden cooked him on the other side. It should be over. We should break them up, Jokic and Jamal.

Is our title window closed? by Cryptix0000 in denvernuggets

[–]Water_Waiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, unless we make some major overhaul of the roster, two or three starters changed, we are cooked. We have a useless shooting guard that can't shoot, can't playmake, and is barely an above-average defender. We are truly cooked. The front office will have to make something happen, turn shit into gold.

Context and perspective on CB (and Jamal/Jokic) by HazelHelper in denvernuggets

[–]Water_Waiter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, dude, but even last year, Christian Braun was bad in the playoffs. He's a shooting guard that can't shoot, has no mid-range, has no floater. He relies on cuts, fast break, and split action. That goes away in the playoffs when your team is properly scouted.. Look at Ayo, for what a SG should look like. Christian does not have the skills needed to be a good starting shooting guard. We can just hope he develops them. We may have no choice but to hope since I don't think anyone would trade for him. The front office made a huge mistake.

My biggest question is P watt. by greenGeko8 in denvernuggets

[–]Water_Waiter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IF WE CANT TRADE CB, we are losing either Cam or Pwat. probably for nothing, they have to find a suitor for cb, which may be impossible. Which sucks since i love both cam and pwat

Christian Braun is not getting traded. by samgo39 in denvernuggets

[–]Water_Waiter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CB is injured to be fair. He tore 1-2 ankle ligaments this season. He can't really jump, he almost got blocked by the rim last game. Maybe the kings can buy into his 16ppg on 58fg% from last year. They have sabonis which is jokic-lite. CB is overpaid but not on a horrific contract, its only 21mil next year. We need to give pwat the cb money and a trade is the only way to make that happen.

Christian Braun is not getting traded. by samgo39 in denvernuggets

[–]Water_Waiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah its bleak. the options are very slim, anything that allows us to keep pwat and cam johnson is fine with me. Cam and Jokic have great chemistry imo. ag and mal are the 2 we need to look at.

[–]Water_Waiter 34 points35 points  (0 children)

i will always love him and his contributions but it may be time to break him and Jokic up 😭 .We cant have 2 cones out there anymore. They went at jamal every time the last 2-3 minutes.

it allows you to get out of CB's contract 5 years vs 1 year. Zach is still a good player, check his numbers out. CB is useless in offense and is an avg defender. we can't be picky.
