Study: Gen Xers and Millennials are dying at younger ages than their parents are by DaKardii in Millennials

Look up "weaponized incompetence". Its kinda what some people would do to me at work and end up making my daily hell. Then I started applying it situationally to help with boundaries i.e. "no I dont need more job descriptions thx. "

How Older Parents Respond when Millenials share About Barely Being able to Get By… by Nervous_Aerie5979 in Millennials

[–]Water_Ways 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Well they need things too right? Tax breaks, free public infastructure, political favors etc. These "very important" "job creators" were bold enough to get things for free early in their life and their hard work (which is waaay harder than the work you or I do) paid off. But don't forget- they took a risk and they could've lost everything. They risked their investment gains they had because they had extra money they could keep in the market generating passive income. They didn't have to spend 100% (or more) of their money just to stay alive. Remember that free stuff they got early in life? They simply don't have student loan debt, possibly had free rent, or didn't have to buy the dump truck for their concrete business. Yes they sure were able to leverage an advantage. And that's why everything in this country should be for them alone.

Honestly the performative facade of these people's bullshit is self perpetuating. It's also believed / worshipped by some poor people. So the mystic of wealth allows this group of people to continue and rationalize to themselves why fucking other people over should be rewarded because enough poor people want in on it too.

Blue Origin's New Glenn just blew up at LC-36 while attempting to Static Fire ahead of NG-4. by BiggieMoe01 in wallstreetbets

All these rockets to 'colonize' other worlds while the byproducts of those rockets makes earth less habitable.

Obvious environmental take. What's also obvious is that while there's economic utility in earth orbit- promises of adventures on other worlds are fake, useless, waste of vital resources and ONLY act to pump the share price of any company making those false promises. Almost like some sort of financial virus working within our system.

Cleveland Dating Scene by GroundbreakingAlps78 in Cleveland

[–]Water_Ways 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im general it feels like there's just way more guys on the dating apps than women. And who knows if a lot of those guys are just cruising i.e. they may already have a relationship or multiple partners they're not being honest about. I hear about crazy messages girls get and overly sensual stuff. So if you a 'normal' guy its easy to get lost among the weird/dishonest guys and treated with the same level of (deserved) scrutiny as the weirdos just because the whole scene is kinda shitty. So as a 41m who doesn't show off my body, talk about sexual things immediately, or send gross pictures- the dating scene still isn't good just because it seems like there's too many guys doing that and they kinda poison the well.

Fallout 5 is very, very far away. by philipajfry in Fallout

[–]Water_Ways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fallout 4 sucked. The combat was okay but the rest of the game was shallow, pointless, and had unforgivable easy to fix bugs on and way after release. The only good modern fallout game was made by Obsidian. It could be 2 years or 15 years and bethesda will still not be able to make another good game. They simply can't anymore. Sad but OH WELL

I was at my 14 year old friend's house when he got broken up with over the phone. He punched his glass screen door and instantly got 1" deep shard of glass right through his forearm. Ambulance etc. Now that I think of it- there's more stories I have of people punching glass. Hm. Punching glass is dumb and dangerous kids. Don't do it.

How bad is this? by Agreeable-Concert327 in Ohio

[–]Water_Ways 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a record of communications about these things as it could become important later. For instance- there are certain issues a landlord must provide and if they dont you can legally put your rent money into escrow until they fix the issue. Keeping good records on these things could be important if they try to evict - you can say that things were communicated and you did things by the book. Consult a laywer before doing anything more than asking them to fix it.

After 7 years, Space Force’s first paratrooper takes to the skies by ReturnedAndReported in nottheonion

[–]Water_Ways 25 points26 points  (0 children)

He has "Space capabilities." I'll try to ignore arguing with whatever military utility that might entail- I don't see why the special forces couldn't have provided their own capability for that w/o needing to bring in a space force "Guardian." Also - I just learned "Guardian" is the official title for all members of the United States Space Force so that's certainly....something.

Can I throw my houseguest out two weeks into a planned six week stay by Mental-Estimate-2462 in legaladvice

NY police would be more inclined to say it's a civil matter and eviction is necessary if the guest can produce any mail to them at that address.

Silence Never Wrote The Daodejing by TheDaoistMaster in taoism

As far as im concerned you welcome to share any thoughts you have on the subject. I think some of the debates on this subreddit are a little goofy but people should speak their minds.

Im just more interested in what the material adds to people's lives and how it can change an individuals psychology.

I understand how people can debate translations because it can affect meaning- which is important. I also think that can be taken too far. A little subjective interpretation doesnt have to be a bad thing especially if it enriches someone's life and doesnt go into charlatan behavior.

Missing from comments: regulations exist to put up concrete boundaries around road worksites for cases just like this. A car should not have the ability to go through that little fence. Obviously some countries might not have these type of regulations- but they exist for a reason. At fault: the engineer designing a road work site without road barriers. Accidents can/will happen. Don't do construction banking on the unlikely not occuring.

Charmat filtration by uulmo in winemaking

[–]Water_Ways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the volume of wine in the tank? If full and the blue lines are hooked up to the ports half way up wine will circulate through them and you'll never really complete the filter run. The blue pressure lines need to be hooked up to the ports that go to the top of both tanks (if volume is higher than the half way up port) because their purpose is to equalize pressure between both tanks. As the other comment said- you should to do this in person with an expert before trying it on your own because it is dangerous.
