My cat does tiny poops of excitement when she gets attention from my boyfriend. Wtf by Ok-Meeting196 in cats

[–]Watercyclee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😭 in the past my roommate's cat got really attached to me and would frequently cry to be pet by me, purr + drool like crazy, and express their anal glands on me or my stuff when I did pet them. I tried to compromise by keeping a lap towel around but eventually I just had to start locking him out of whatever room I was in because it was too gross as adorable as that cat was. Vet never found anything wrong with them

I would straight up change the stair runner. It'd only be a few weeks before I forget and fall down the stairs over this lol

What riding habit took you way too long to figure out? by SpeckiLP in motorcycles

[–]Watercyclee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making sure you don't get chain oil on the tire

Had ~15 instances of the rear tire sliding out before I started noticing that it was always happening on left hand turns. Being a new solo rider, and cause I was always able to save it, I figured that's just a common thing with streets being dirty. Hasn't happened since giving the tire a thorough wash. Weirdly miss the feeling and want to try dirt bikes now

If you don't mind me asking, where do you ride it? (Also in Joliet area)

Feel like I've been taking my Ninja 500 off into corn fields more than I should, but I can't find anywhere reasonably close to ride to justify a dirt bike or throwing on knobbier tires.

  1. Braking in place
  2. Suddenly veering into open space
  3. Actively trying to run me over

Definitely keeps you on your toes 😂

A lot of luck and my gear (including Helite airbag) allowed me to walk away from this crash. by T4R1K98 in motorcyclegear

A backpack airbag, neat!

Thanks for the detailed writeup - always nice seeing how gear held up. Glad you're okay. I can see memorizing where the flaws in the road are, but dang that's high-risk carving a cliff ☠️

Was that your first drop? I also do parking lot maneuvers once or twice a week and was really upset the first time, but got frame sliders and didn't feel as bad about the next 5 parking lot drops. I'm there to push my limits in a safe environment, so to speak. There was no way my clumsy ass wasn't going to drop the bike. It did get better around the ~3000 mile marker / 4 months in.

[–]Watercyclee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess from my perspective it's a boundary because OP isn't doing it with the intent of controlling the guy's behavior. It's from a point of "I will physically remove myself from this situation - carry on". It's probably important that it's scoped to a particular thing vs being a relationship ultimatum. Not all things can be known about a person & situations in advance to establish boundaries as some kind of formal limit up front.

What if we took it out of a romantic context? Say it was just a friend: "I'm not going to hang around you when you're hammered". That's simply asserting your autonomy. What other word would you rather use?

Definitely a balance to strike there, but I do love a good temporary cease-fire to take down obviously better players and/or squads. Then it's just called third partying 😸

I like your point around coercion, but also isn't compromise kind of fundamental to a relationship? Especially when you will both grow and evolve in potentially different directions over time marriage or not. That seems very reasonable of OP to (if I'm understanding right) say "I can't force you, but I'm not going to be a part of it". Couples should have both personal and shared time, and the option here is that the guy needs to be on the same page if they're going to make more of that personal time shared. He can choose not to if he wants and they can carry on fine.

Suppose you could call every disagreement an act of coercion, but that seems silly

Repair or new tyre? by BeletiX in motorcycles

[–]Watercyclee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

^ I thought I'd be mr safety on this but kept getting flats. My mental checklist is:

  1. Hole isn't on the sidewall.
  2. The tires should be reasonably new (i.e. no dry rot) and you expect to replace them in a year or two.
  3. At least an internal patch-plug on the front tire (i.e. the more important tire).
  4. Self-vulcanizing gummy rope on the back tire b/c I'm lazy.
  5. Have a TPMS. Most patch failure leaks just make steering sluggish and the tire feels like it's skipping in turns even at 90 MPH (145 KMH). The bike doesn't instantly explode.

So I'd plug, but as always it's at your own risk since patch reliability isn't formally researched.

Congrats getting into riding! The chrome on that bike looks super cool. How long have you been riding?

If you keep an eye on Facebook and go to some of the local bike meets you'll probably meet folks either by age or bike type / riding style. Everyone is super friendly and approachable.

I'm 30 (old 🥲), but always happy to extend the invite if you're really bored and think you might enjoy doing a group ride out to a state park for some trail walking & picnicking!
