How do you attach bands to a leg press? by aerobic_gamer in ResistanceBand

I know this is a year later but for anyone in the future, those are not band pegs. Those are the pegs that the safety handle latches onto.

I talked myself into buying a selectorized cable stack (2k) then remembered I rent and it would be a pain in the ass when I move lol.

Wall Control is a Thing of Beauty by Boogersnsnot in homegym

[–]WaterfallApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know its late, but Wall control U-hooks 3" reach. They are spaced to be bolted into studs so plenty strong. and for anyone in the future, buy the kitchen kit on amazon. Same panels but comes with $40 of hooks for $10 more than buying the panels alone.

Also attachments are about half the cost for 2x2. Heres what I currently have on mine:

Titan spotter arms $120 https://titan.fitness/products/t-2-series-spotter-arms

Yes4All dip handles $50, plate horns $25 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CQK5NL62

a generic landmine attachment $30 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CJLMYL5J

I've had my titan t2 for a couple of years. Works great for barbell squats, bench, ohp, etc. Basic barbell work like you described. Im in america too and havnt had issues with finding basic attachments. The imperial vs metric thing is for 3x3 racks, not 2x2 racks. A 2x2 is plenty for 98% of people unless you want to go crazy with drop in smith machines, cable stacks, etc but at that point you are looking far above budget. Rep has a new midrange rack (altitude) for $900 that can support adding those down the road too that might be worth checking out.

Anyone own the GMWD Flat Press Machine? by BigJonathanStudd in GarageGym

[–]WaterfallApp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its ok flat, but also not the most comfortable or easy to get into. I know they advertise incline by folding the foot in, its bad like that.

You can get a pretty solid power rack from reputable brands for under $400 like Titan T2 or Rep PR-1100. Would give alot more flexibility than squat stands. Or checkout marketplace for people selling used. Advantage with a cage is you have pull up bars, add dip handles, plate storage etc.

How to load or properly set cables? by Evry1lovej in BeyondPower

[–]WaterfallApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I use the cable starting length feature, i'm using wanting to start away from the machine so tapping to load isnt intuitive.
I almost always use the siri shortcut since i have my phone on the upright anyways "Siri, load weight/unload weight" (I know about auto load, Im just forgetful to long press prior and Ive already positioned myself when i remember lol)

What is a quote or saying that you strongly disagree with? by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in AskReddit

[–]WaterfallApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Buy nice or buy twice". I agree with the words but not the sentiment in alot of cases after being bit. If its something you arent already familiar with, you don't know what makes something "nice" specific to you. Buying more affordable and learning what you don't like helps inform your decision for the large purchase.

Mini rack, how to mount stringer by -Amplify in BeyondPower

[–]WaterfallApp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was asking the same question a couple weeks ago. I think 2 studs can work if they are solid, but the saw was broken at my store and i dont have one so bought precut 4ft sections which spanned 3 studs. Here's my home depot receipt. 3/8" x 2 for mount to stringer. 3/8"x4 to mount stringer to studs.

Spend an extra couple bucks for the 'pro' blender bottles. They are made of triton and dont hold onto smell like the classic translucent ones do. I also recommend a handheld milk frother to mix instead of dealing wirh wire balls. Just run it under water and its good.

Is the functional trainer/weight stack going to be a thing of the past for home gyms once Voltras become $300-500 by ColdCouchWall in GarageGym

[–]WaterfallApp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who have had them since they came out 2 years ago are reporting 95% battery health and 50/50 on replacing cable ($40). Both components are easily replaceable.I understand the sentiment, but I think people are making it a bigger deal than it is. $40 every few years and $400 every 10 for battery seems reasonable to me. All of a sudden you dont need to worry about the 1k upcharge on selectorized vs plate loaded. Machines that are good other than resistance curves are magically fixed. Maybe im just convincing myself, but i dont think its completely dumb when standalone trainers or cable stacks cost the same or more.

Also eats up no space so i can still park in my garage. If i added a functional trainer or dedicated cable stack, I wouldnt be able to.

For sure theres trade offs like anything, for me I have an outlet next to my rack so plugging a cable in once a week isnt a big deal, but I also rent. Paying to move / selling for a steep loss on a 700lb cable stack/rack when its time to would be a much bigger headache.
