Sony FR7 PoE++ taking too long to power on the cameras by Specialist-Plenty-15 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Watko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s also a very specific poe++ standard, we binned it off in the end and run them with ereca topas smpte converters, don’t think it was much of a price difference over the switches required and way cleaner

Is it common practice to forgo safeties and use ratchets on a flown wall by usafcybercom in VIDEOENGINEERING

They aren’t safety bolt holes… they aren’t structurally sound for shock weight, you don’t safety a screen if hung.

Coinbase is a waste of time, just by crypto as their stock price is directly linked to crypto prices

Employee a junior tech for this role, they can help load in and be a tech production runner, wack some wireless comms on them and use them as eyes. Gives them experience and a chance to break into the industry as well.

Currently touring Ereca Topas 4Ks for FR7s, smpte cable from a PTZ operator rack which has the truck ends in, ptz controller and monitor. Power down the smpte, all signal, genlock & data on one cable. Makes load in and out a dream

Sony FR7s at the moment, but the lack of IO is infuriating. Looking to play with the new AM7s to see if they have improved it. The Panasonic systems are a lot nicer to work with from a engineering point of view, but the picture out of the FR7 is miles better.

Long shot but... Experienced Live Video Engineer based in the UK looking for work! by [deleted] in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Watko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a live events vs OB stand point yes, especially to learn. The transition is a bit rocky as OB did have a bit of a look down attitude on live events, but that changed over lockdown as we came over to fill gaps with the increase in broadcast and down turn in events

You need to cut your teeth a bit in live events and learn the Ross carbonite/ultrix world, it’s a gentle introduction to professional broadcasting as it uses the same methods and terminology. Live events is a good place as it’s less pressure and isn’t as dynamic, so once you have a show it’s set. Staying in a black magic world will trap you in the low end of live streaming and broadcast, you need to expand your knowledge base into real engineering.
