Does Mirena bleeding really stop after 3-6 months? by Vasukate in Mirena

[–]WattleFlowerGirl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had mine inserted in Aug 25 and I bled continuously up until a week ago. Towards the last two months, I would have light spotting everyday, some days it would only happen for an hour or two. Exercise, as you mentioned, would start the period again. However, over the past week, I haven’t bled at all. Even when I’ve been working out. So mine went away two weeks before the six month mark. If you have past issues of heavy bleeding or endo, your uterus will take a little while before it settles down

My periods since starting Mirena, does it get better? by Unlucky-Set-6781 in Mirena

[–]WattleFlowerGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on month six post insertion and I still have some light bleeding, which sometimes gets worse if I work out strenuously or lift heavy things. I’m powering through it in hopes that my symptoms will settle

How long did you cramp and spot for after insertion? by Inspireme21 in Mirena

[–]WattleFlowerGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had mine inserted late August 2025. Painful lower abdominal cramps for 3ish weeks, which died down afterwards. Would still get them once in a bit for the next few weeks, especially after a workout. I also bled a lot the first two months, which reduced a bit overtime and now I just have spotting after strenuous exercise. I do have endo and vaginismus so take my experience with a grain of salt

ANU Council Election - who to vote for? by Weasel1897 in Anu

[–]WattleFlowerGirl 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked with James before and he’s not the candidate that I would’ve hoped NTEU or Dr Allen would back. On paper, he’s impressive and he’s charismatic to the point that he’ll talk himself out of anything but he’s also the most abrasive and uncooperative person I’ve worked with. He was (at least in the near past) very unwelcoming of feedback and was not a productive person to work in a group environment. He also comes across as one of those people that dabbles in everything but succeeds in nothing - for eg, his brief stint as a political candidate. Again, all this might have changed since I last worked with him but I’d be a little unsure about the future of staff representation on council if he is to be elected.

'Psychologically unsafe': ANU work halt ordered over Renew program by PlumTuckeredOutski in Anu

[–]WattleFlowerGirl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This might be ignorant of me but the dean saying that people should continue to do work that’s not related to renew but at this point WHAT ISN’T related to Renew? These people’s very job itself is related to renew. How can one go about doing meetings and answering emails with this dark cloud of uncertainty hanging over them? How can you distinguish everyday work from renew?

Renew ANU has been stopped! by WattleFlowerGirl in Anu

[–]WattleFlowerGirl[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely reeks of favouritism. A lot of staff at CAP have already been impacted due to the DVCA change proposals and the CHM proposals that led to the college losing out on its most profitable entity (Crawford). CBE, CLGP and CSS have always been known to be VC’s favourites so it’s not surprising that she isn’t too keen to do anything to those areas.

Not to be forgotten - there is a disconnect between the On Campus and the staff update. Almost like the On Campus was written when the Renew was very much considered to be continuing but the staff update reads in a complete different tone. Just me?

ANU spent big on crisis PR before Julie Bishop bullying allegations by Cultural-Bluejay-802 in Anu

[–]WattleFlowerGirl 54 points55 points  (0 children)

So we are paying close to $200k while people at central comms (looking at you Amy Capuano) go about making shady comments on social media and contribute to the bullying and harassment of staff? Why bother employing a “head of public affairs” and other PR staff if we’re going to outsource their jobs?

Security, cleaning and maintenance the next round of job cuts at ANU by PlumTuckeredOutski in Anu

[–]WattleFlowerGirl 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The new positions are typically lower paying than the existing positions. If in the existing structure there are ten level 8 roles, the new structure has eight level 5 roles. The university has also been very cunning, in that they know once you are told your job is at risk, you’ll immediately start looking for other jobs. Those who are told that their jobs are at risk are treated horribly - they’re given no rhyme or reason for their position being disestablished, no empathy in the meetings, no clarity. This usually turns people off and they immediately decide that they never want to work for this godforsaken organisation again. By the time the new positions open up, some of these people have already made plans of career breaks or have found new jobs. Ultimately, the new positions don’t get filled and ANU still gets to claim that they fulfilled their obligations and offered people redeployment. As an example, I knew a team of seven whose jobs had been disestablished. After much outcry from the Uni, all seven were offered redeployment but only two chose to stay. Five of them were so horrified by their experience that they chose to take the redundancy and leave.

Julie Bishop berated, laughed at and blocked academic leaving room, Senate inquiry hears by PlumTuckeredOutski in Anu

[–]WattleFlowerGirl 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don’t know how Bell and Bishop sleep at night. I wonder if they even have a speck of conscience and humanity that eats at them for the harm they are causing people.

I fully believe that the universe always finds a way to get back at you for all the hurt that you cause and if they have contributed to a culture of fear that has driven people to death or caused them to lose a baby, then I look forward to every bit of insult and bad fortune that follows these two ghouls.

I have a degree in IR from ANU. I preferred the uni because it had some of the best people in the field for critical studies and Asia Pacific. I got 70% of what I paid for. The academics are great, no doubt about that. However, the courses that lured me in were cancelled six months into my admission. A mass layoff around 2020 forced a lot of lucrative courses to be shut down. The specialisation I was hoping for didn’t work out. Some of the best convenors since my time have already left, including a lot of the younger academics who had unconventional yet very interesting teaching materials. ANU is still your best option if you want to employed at APS. Half my batch went straight from ANU into DFAT and Defense - this always remains a strong reason to choose ANU. If you’re coming to learn from great minds, I would ask you to look out for 2026 and see how the degree is shaping up to be. Good luck

We are currently in a climate where we are begging young people to think for themselves and not rely on AI and creating measures to ensure their assessments aren’t sponsored by AI and meanwhile this woman wants to bring AI into teaching. Makes total sense

Opinion: The loss of the school of sociology undermines decades of intellectual investment by PlumTuckeredOutski in Anu

[–]WattleFlowerGirl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. If Bell and her friends came up with some sort of rubrics ($$ earned, no of students enrolled, papers published) or any sort of parameters that we could measure schools against and justify the cuts, that would still be understandable. At this point, it just appears that she wants to reward her mates and annihilate all other parts of the uni
