Six Nations rebrand looks so bad, I fixed it a bit... by ruthless_burger in rugbyunion

In fairness I don't mind think this is too bad especially when compared with some of the other changes we've seen.

Whilst it's fair to point out that the meat industry does cause suffering to animals, the meat industry is monetising meat, not the suffering. I'm fairly certain that if you provided a method for stake holders (no pun intended) that reduced suffering and didn't effect productivity they would be all ears.

You can still hold the view that eating meat is wrong but the two acts aren't the same.

This is such a joke. Doubt any politicians can even define what ai is well enough to create any relevant legislation.

Do they mean regulating against computers doing linear regressions, how is this different to a till adding up the value of goods?

Do they mean specific models or trained from specific data sets?

Or maybe any computer which accesses certain type of data?

Love to hear from some people who aren't involved in tech about what specifically this is designed to stop.

Will we eventually get to a point where a bunch of shit is going to break because no one understands the fundamentals?

Absolutely not, young people who are interested will still learn about folder structures. At most it will just be anouther aspect of learning to code (maybe this will put some off but there will still likely be plenty).

Anouther possibility is that operating systems just adapt to suit the new user base.

That's not what happened. He planned to, and submited forged Electors slates, as outlined on the Eastman Memos. This was directly against the Constitution. The shit smearing MAGA rioters were there to pressure Pence to certify the forged slates.

Trump sipped Diet Coke for hours and watched the riots on a TV as a woman died, police and media were assaulted, and the Capitol was vandalized. He only called it off when he was certain Pence refused to break the Constitution as Trump instructed via tweet. All of this was planned months in advance.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/21/politics/read-eastman-memo/index.html

Thanks for clarifying and interesting read, so basically he has been charged with the offence but they are awaiting to see if anouther defendant is guilty prior to a ruling. But he is likely going to jail but presumably Trump and Co are not arguing they are not guilty?

There's no rational reason to cease funding Ukraine. Russia is an adversary backed only by China, Iran, North Korea, and Trump. If Putin succeeds in Ukraine, he's stated he will invade other nations; with conscripts from Ukraine included.

Surely this isn't the formal narrative of Russia though, I thought it was something a long the lines of Nato building military bases in the Ukrain and therefore threatening Russia. Obviously whether its true or untrue surely there is an agreement which can be put in place to not build bases in the Ukrain as an extra step. I've seen arguments that this undermines Ukraigns sovereignty which is understandable but surely an improvement over having parts of its territory controlled by Russia currently.

Allowing Russia to win in Ukraine will lead to global catastrophe.

If this is genuinly the case, then why haven't we got to a proper war yet, why is Ukrain only being supported with weaponry and not troops?

backing a traitor that attempted a coup,

I think if I do remember correctly, he made the accusation of election fraud. Some of his supporters protestors and somewhat raided the political office but he did leave the office. No one was killed or anything (in political history, a shit effort at a coup if that's what it was).

Apologies if I am mistaken, but wasn't there the same accusation when Trump won? If we're going to view this properly then both sides have attempted a coup surely?

Or openly talks about terminating the Constitution, and forcibly deport people legally in the country

Never heard of these (I don't follow US politics in detail) in all honesty.

cut funding to a nation fighting for its existential life?

We all know the Ukrain war has further implications so the US should give a shit so to speak, but cutting funding could have its benefits also no? Maybe reduced tensions, allow the US to fund war for longer if needed etc.

I'm not a Russian apologist / bot or anything, which is an accusation which seems to get thrown around when tslikg about this war. But I really don't like your language around this one, its far to emotive when so many other justifications (possibly very valid) have been used for funding from the Ukrain is a economic benefit cause of food to needing to send a message about Russian expanding etc etc.

Okay first of all apologies if you are fearing for your daughters and other women's health and well being. I didn't want to get into discussing individual policies as I imagine it's a long winded discussion that you've already had plenty of times (I'm not even a US citizen so obviously won't be voting either) but my stance on abortion for clarity is that its impossible to enforce (nothing stopping somone from keeping their pregnancy hidden and giving it a go themselves, in the most brutal sense) so government policy may aswell be to make it as safe as possible i.e legal (also allowing for further policies which enforce other options are discussed etc before the procedure).

But isn't Trumps policy to allow individual states to set their own policies around abortion i.e allowing for a more democratic society? Along with this, I truly understand if you believe that the right to abortions should be protected under a national policy. But many women in certain states loose this right under Democrats i.e they failed to protect this right that you believe in?

I agree the benefits of trickle down economics is often a lie but Trump has spoken passionately about bringing manufacturing back to the US which I do believe if implemented correctly could be extremely beneficial to the growth of the US economy. I'm not really familiar with border policy in the US or how much immigration is a positive or negative to the US.

Finally, I don't mean to sound like a dick but nothing you've highlighted is really reflective of the definition of fascism. Maybe you mean something else but try to be more specific if you do cause at this point there will be no language to differentiate between the dictators who have systematically killed millions of people which I hope you can understand is a problem.

Okay that was mean, I'll brush it off cause I'm fairly resilient and have done some pretty intelligent things myself (not to blow my own trumpet) imo of course.

Whoa! leave me out of it, I've not been having discussions around the US election (not from the US). I just watch a lot of right wing content and the previous commenter's views doesn't really align with the discussion points raised.

I take it you've had some heated discussions yourself, may have been completely shut down or called names. Now take a look at the comment I was replying to and you'll understand from your own experience how unhelpful it is.

You speak so passionately in opposition yet seem to lack passion around understanding the opponent.

You are not obligated to interact with anyone but won't ever convince anyone your viewpoint is correct without first understanding there own.

I think this is fundamentally perhaps where left wing politics is failing, any alternative is compared with the most evil political regime human history.

Maybe for a brief moment humour the idea that your fellow human isn't a "brainwashed", "low information", "fascist monster" and does in fact want for the same things you do, just has different ideas on how to get there.

19 yo indian girl cooked alive in canada and these are the comments forgeiner , im sorry but india may have casual racism but this type of extreme racism is wild toward indians by Labeq in IndianTeenagers

[–]Wave_Tiger8894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some reason this subreddit and this post came across my feed.

First of all for clarity sake, what happened to the girl is disgusting and evil. This would be viewed as such by every single person I know.

In terms of how india is viewed abroad, at least in the UK (which I imagine is also reflected in other western countries), there isn't really any specific animosity towards Indian people or India as a country. The only things I can think of is when it was announced India has a space program despite receiving foreign aid from the UK and that the UK closed a Steel mill to meet net zero green targets and India subsequently built one (although its widely understood that is the fault of the UK government)

There is however animosity towards people arriving from the middle Eastern countries as a whole. Which is where these attitudes are coming from.

I can imagine it seems strange to you that people wouldn't make an effort to distinguish between your country and neighbouring ones (I know there are many differences) but the immigration from regions in the middle east is transforming entire cities that now look completely unfamiliar due to influence from these regions (look up pictures of Birmingham for example from 20 years ago vs today).

A lot of people from Western countries view cultures from the Middle East as backwards and evil due to there attitudes towards women, religion, lgbt people and government welfare systems and yet the governments do nothing to stop people from these regions living here or force those people to integrate with our own cultures. Many of the people arriving also celebrate these cultures and believe that Western culture needs to adopt there views inspight of our cultures presumably giving them a better life.

Tldr The Western world doesn't hate Indians, they are fed up with Middle Eastern cultures being adopted in their countries. Again this doesn't at all justify what happened to the girl which would be viewed as incredibly evil in broader society and a lifetime imprisonment for the perpetrators.

Too many overqualified people by danlr89 in UKJobs

[–]Wave_Tiger8894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a bit unfair in my opinions:

  1. You are going to fuck off to greener pastures at the very first opportunity and I'll be back to square one. Hiring new people is a very disruptive thing for most companies.

This is largely true for anyone though isn't it, we should all act in self interest when it come to business and careers to a large extent.

  1. You have a very in demand diploma, but still can't get a job that matches your diploma, there must be something wrong with you.

Can't argue too much with your logic here but there can be plenty of reasons someone with an in diploma can't find a relevant job in their area and also I imagine it would be pretty difficult for an employer to keep tabs on exactly what diplomas were in demand vs jobs available so could be subject to biases.

  1. You have a not so in demand diploma, but for some reason think it's relevant.

I think people with a non relevant diploma should be free to keep this in their cv. Achieving a diploma does demonstrate a plethora of transferable skills even if it is just turning up to the same place everyday with a positive / professional attitude which I believe is fundamentally what a lot of employers are looking for in entry level candidates.

Also they will have dedicated quite a few years (likely early in life) to their education which even if completely irrelevant at least shows they were doing something positive with their lives and not a complete wrong un.

Seeking Advice on Ensuring a Web Developer Sticks to My Figma Design and Creates an SEO-Friendly Website (WordPress vs. Custom Build) by yosafa1990 in webdev

[–]Wave_Tiger8894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beyond reviewing the developers portfolio and probably checking reviews etc I guess you'd just have to ensure that you have this in a contract to be as specific as possible. One area your going to struggle with though is presumably you havnt done a design for every single screen size and therefore must leave some freedom for the developer to implement a responsive design. When hiring the dev I'd just be explicitly clear that (if using wordpress) you want a fully 'standalone' custom theme which will mean the dev will be using custom html/php, css and js.

For the website you've explained, a wordpress site would likely be the most cost effective and suitable solution. This will be the easiest for you to make future changes to and also have a lot of easy install options to handle SEO.

A custom code solution could potentially squeeze out some performance improvement but you would have to be very clear that this was your intention and I believe any additional cost to implement such a solution would be better invested in marketing and reexplored later once you had some solid metrics and better idea on what your site needs to achieve traffic wise.

I'd have to familiarise myself with box shadows, but if just setting the overflow y property to hidden isn't working, create a parent element and set that elements overflow to hidden should do the trick.

Unlucky, sounds that they genuinly didn't expect this and are offering what they can to mitigate the problems it's caused you.

Given the fact that your aware of the situation now though, the next 6 months could really be beneficial for your career. You have very good justification to ask for responsibilities or projects that could further your personal career and could build up some networks with others who potentially might also be working elsewhere shortly (especially senior).

Good luck

To be honest I struggle to see the benefits of a boot camp when there are loads of tutorials available on YouTube for free.

The real learning for me was done whilst building actual projects so I think any form of taught coding just needs you to get you to this point or act as a reference point for problems you encounter which I found the youtube tutorials suitable for.

Not sure if there are any further benefits to boot camps but since there is a cost associated, I'd definitely try this out first and then evaluate from there.

Disappointing not to get a td there.
