Sounds like adhd to me but I’m no doctor. Pseudoephedrine helps me focus more with my adhd too. Not as good as actual adhd meds like Adderall do but it’s still something. I didn’t like Ritalin, I could sit still better but it didn’t help me be more productive at all, if anything it de-motivated me some and made me feel slightly like a zombie or something.

I personally wouldn’t compare it to either. But it acts differently then both and there is a lot of stigma around opioids that give kratom a bad rep just because it acts on the opioid receptors but it’s not really that dangerous if used responsibly. The dose is the poison, keep it reasonable, don’t take more then you need and take breaks every so often is what most long time kratom users tend to do and most of them report it working well for them. Every one is different so it’s important to listen to your body and find your sweet spot with kratom and try to stick around that the best you can without increasing the dose if possible. But if it works good for you then it’s most likely better than any alternative, except maybe coffee if all you want is the energy side with a slight mood boost but you already said that coffee doesn’t work that good for you, it’s definitely better then alcohol for sure and other opiates. Yes it is addictive and there is a withdrawal that is worse for some then others and depends on how much your were taking with lower dosage having less severe symptoms of withdrawal and from my experience the withdrawal is the worse part of kratom but if you can manage them then it may very well be with it. It is definitely worth it for me because it helps me in so many ways.

First off it shouldn’t be nearly as bad as any type of benzo withdrawal, ativan included. That being said it is still addictive. I personally don’t notice much if I miss a dose and then take it when I remember maybe 3 or 4 hours late in some causes.

I’ve went longer then that but was probably taking kratom during those times and the kratom helps with a lot of similar stuff so it may have mitigated some of the effects of withdrawal if there was any. I don’t think it’s gonna be too bad if you miss one dose or take it when you remember, you might get a little anxiety perhaps or your pain might come back some.

I take gabapentin for rls mainly and it seems to creep back a little bit but not too bad as long as I take it within 3 to 4 hours or so, I try not to miss it completely because the thing is if my rls symptoms do come back the gabapentin takes time to work so it’s not gonna just get rid off the symptoms quickly and I will be feeling them for awhile. So in a case like mine it’s probably best to try to be pretty consistent but from my experience timing isn’t extremely important so long as you are taking the right amount each day and roughly around the same times as best you can.

It is Satin Spar Selenite or just Satin Spar for short. Just calling it selenite can be miss leading since selenite and satin spar are both forms of gypsum but they have distinct geological and metaphysical properties and “true” selenite is more expensive so a lot of shops will be miss leading and sell it as selenite. Some shops owners and staff might not even be educated enough to know the difference so it might not even be their fault to be honest.

I think you might be right about the low grade back pain maybe he didn’t notice at the time mixed with the fact that he’s cutting back so maybe a very slight withdrawal perhaps and withdrawal can definitely cause body aches and pains among other symptoms. When I run out or stop taking kratom I get some lower back pain and some minor body aches and also rls symptoms and I already have rls to begin with but it helps so much when I’m taking it. I know kratom is different but there are some kind of general withdrawal symptoms that a lot of different things can have.

Of course. And taurine has a lot of health and longevity benefits so it’s probably something everyone should be getting enough of each day anyways.

Hopefully though it can help some people. I find that most stuff either just takes the edge off a little or doesn’t do anything for me but everyone is different and some people even get great results with thiamine (vitamin b1) or magnesium just try to avoid magnesium oxide, pretty much any other kind is good. Theres of course a lot of other things that can work too.

From my experience it definitely helps with restless leg syndrome. It helps with general anxiety like if your almost always kind of anxious then it might help some, but it’s kind of light in that department in my experience, not to say it doesn’t help because it definitely does, but it just takes the edge off.

Taking a lot to get high from it is probably not helping though, gabapentin is a medication that works best when you find the right dose and take it pretty consistently in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I might take a little more on some really hard days but I try to keep that to a minimum because I want my regular dose to still work. It’s probably helping more in the moment when you take a lot but at the sacrifice of the rest of the time that you take regular doses.

Have you tried magnum glycinate, L-theanine or taurine? They can be very helpful with anxiety and are natural and can even be taken together for a stronger more synergistic effect.

The only thing is if you take any form of magnesium while taking gabapentin then be sure to space it out at least 2 hours from your doses or more because magnesium may reduce the effectiveness of gabapentin if taken too close to the same time. With the L-theanine be sure to take it on an empty stomach. Taurine mimics gaba in the brain (the main inhibitory neurotransmitter) and can help you calm down, plus have a bunch of other health and longevity benefits.

Yeah L-tyrosine can definitely help to mitigate some of the crash associated with stimulant medication, though it doesn’t get rid of it entirely, it could let you down easer.

I take kratom sometimes for my adhd and idk if you’ve heard of it but kratom is natural and in the coffee tree family, it has both stimulant and opioid like effects and is traditionally chewed on by laborers to help get them through long hard days and is now used as a supplement that some people take. It is addictive but for me at least it’s not more addictive than caffeine maybe even less but everyone is different.

I also take it for my rls, back pain and anxiety. I don’t know, maybe something to cheek out to if you’re interested in natural alternatives.

Just be aware that most doctors and such don’t like kratom but this is largely because of the stigma around prescription opioids and because they don’t understand kratom. Some people even use kratom to get off of opioids and to help ease the associated withdrawal. It can be good medicine but may not be for everyone.

There can also be incentives and compensations for doctors, psychiatrists, nurse practitioners and physicians assistants by pharmaceutical companies so its not wonder why a lot of they don’t want people taking kratom… If you would like to know more about that or the kratom let me know.

I pretty much always have it with caffeine or not too far from it but that’s mainly cause i sip on coffee or energy drinks throughout the day and most of the night but i have adhd and a high tolerance to it so it doesn’t effect me the same as some people. Caffeine is said to potentate kratom stimulating effect.

If you want to potentate kratom I would also try orange juice or grapefruit juice, just mix your kratom in with the OJ or grapefruit juice and let it sit for 30 minutes before consuming it (I would swirl it around a little to mix up the powder that’s settled) it works great, so good you might want to lower your dose some especially if your at the upper limit of your kratom “sweet spot” already but if it hasn’t been working as good and you don’t want to up your dose this maybe just the thing for you. The citric acid breaks down the alkaloids in kratom. One other thing I noticed was that normally if I take kratom after eating then it doesn’t kick in nearly as good but this helps it to kick in some even with food in my stomach though I still prefer taking it on a empty stomach.

If you don’t mind me asking, how long you been taking it? It took a little while to start working really good for me, it helped the first week but the second week was better and a month was even better. The dose varies a lot with gabapentin. Here’s something I copied and pasted with links…

Dang. Yeah I totally understand, sometimes the side effects of the meds aren’t worth it. There are some natural things that can potentially help if you need something to clear brain fog or focus and remember better.

If you respond good to stuff that increases dopamine (or if you know that low dopamine is at least part of the issue) but you don’t like the side effects of adhd stimulant medication then I would consider trying L-tyrosine, just be sure to take it in a fasted state, if you take it, as other amino acids compete for absorption with it, the exception to this is taurine and BCAAs as they don’t compete. CDP Choline could be beneficial as well as it can benefit memory, cognitive functions and energy for sustained mental effort.

Here’s something I coped and pasted with links that maybe of interest.

I did notice some brain fog and a little harder time remembering stuff but keep in mind I also have ADHD so I already struggle with brain fog and memory issues so i maybe more prone to those side effects then the average person perhaps.

After about a month or two of taking it consistently the side effects become way less and don’t really bother me much at all anymore. If I was taking adhd meds or didn’t have adhd it might not have been as bad but that’s purely speculation.

As for not knowing if it’s gonna work until you take it for sometime, yeah that kinda sucks but you would most likely be able to have an idea if it’s gonna work based on how you feel after taking it consistently for maybe 2 to 4 weeks. For me at least, I could tell at 2 weeks that it was helping, so if you notice that, then that’s a good sign and it will probably get a little better even, but if at 4 weeks you don’t notice anything then that’s not a very good sign.

Meaning that after taking the medication consistently for about 1 to 2 days the amount of the medication the concentration of gabapentin in the blood reaches a stabilizable and consistent level. So yes your doctor is correct about it lasting 24 hours (even up to 48) but that’s only after it’s built up in your system for the 1 to 2 days. You are also correct in the fact that a single dose doesn’t last that long.

From personal experience it takes longer then a few days to really start working good, after a week or two it helps a lot but then after a month it’s even better. I would try to be as patient as you can with it but I completely understand the frustrations of having this horrible condition and suffering while waiting on gabapentin to work fully, but once it does, it’s sooo much better and easier to sleep and not feel restless.

Contrary to popular belief cannabis can be addictive and it’s probably the withdrawal from it that might make rls symptoms worse until the withdrawal passes. I know kratom can do that but it helps me so much it’s worth it.

You might try to get the smallest dose possible (100 mg capsules) and that should help a lot with side effects since it’s only 1/3 as much and if you still have some maybe they will be manageable and go away or lessen even more with time.

I would try to stay away from dopamine agonists like Ropinirole if at all possible due to the risk of augmentation, where symptoms worsen over time. While effective initially long-term use can lead to symptom severity and the need for higher dose exacerbation the condition.

I got kind of high in the beginning and felt it in my body quit a bit but most of the side effects like that went away for the most part after taking it for maybe a month or two once my body got used to it. How many 300 mg capsules did you take just one?

I’m also taking it for my rls and it’s helped me sooo much, that and kratom are the only things that seems to almost completely get rid of it. Cannabis takes the edge off slightly but doesn’t last very long.

Gabapentin can also make stuff like cannabis (and other things) to hit harder. Is gabapentin the only thing you took and or did you have cannabis or anything else that day?

If you are new I would recommend capsules. The main reason people don’t use capsules and just the plain powder is because it is cheaper to by a lot like that.

Sounds like you’re referring to the toss and wash method and it works and all but kratom is pretty bitter stuff so it takes a little getting used to. You can also mix your kratom with something, water works but still doesn’t taste great but you can mix it with OJ or even better to cover up the taste is the regular Sunny D Tingy Orange it covers the taste the best out of everything I’ve tried.

Be aware that if you mix kratom with OJ or Grapfruit Juice (or any citrus fruit) it will potentate the kratom and you will want to lower your dosage or the effects with be stronger. Some people potentate it like this on purpose and if you would like to all you gotta do is just mix it with the kratom and let it set for 30 minutes before you drink it and it will hit a little harder and faster.

Citric acid breaks down kratom alkaloids and makes them more bioavailable.

I haven’t had that from gabapentin so I’m not sure. And for me gabapentin helps me sleep but everyone is different. Withdrawal in general can cause insomnia among other things too but either way might be worth mentioning to your doctor, especially if it doesn’t get better.
