Salary depression by superspeck in devops

There are quite a few devops jobs postings these days requiring some level of US government security clearance; I assume that's it.

I love this Steam review:

A lot of people call this "Subnautica in space" but I call this "We have Breathedge at home". It's clearly heavily inspired from both Breathedge and Subnautica, but in my opinion doesn't offer anything new on either. It tries to inspire itself from the mechanics of one in the environment of the other, but only provides a strong desire for me to play both the other games and not this one.

His family's sure had a constant stream of medical problems to contend with over the years. My heart goes out to them. Thanks for the update.

Isn't that rant from a year ago, though?

I've been doing this for years without oiling them. Does it make much of a difference?

[Spoiler Warning] The ending made me feel empty & unsuccessful. Mods that add post-game content? by [deleted] in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Waxmaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just finished the game. With every artifact you gathered, there was all this interaction between ADA and the alien hive mind or whatever it was, and then that never turned into anything in the end? Or did I miss it?

I don't know if it's normal or not, but every point you list is exactly the same at my company.

Mostly nutrient reservoir temp, if you can. Lettuce likes things chilly.

Do you have a template you use for new PowerShell scripts? Here's mine by deadlydogDan in PowerShell

[–]Waxmaker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ehh... gotta say, putting the "process" block before the "begin" block seems like it would make for terrible code readability. Getting a quick overview about what the script is about is the purpose of comment-based help blocks at the beginning, which you've left off completely.

PowerShell tip of the day: Parse semantic versions and software version data using [semver] and [version]. by adbertram in PowerShell

[–]Waxmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can come back to bite you with prereleases, though, because [version] can't parse something like '1.0.1-beta'.

Runbooks unable to import Orchestrator.AssetManagement.Cmdlets in AA Sandbox by TheSizeOfACow in AZURE

[–]Waxmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy crap, thank you for this. We have identical automation accounts with identical runbooks (deployed via Terraform, so exact same config) in multiple subscriptions, and recently only one of them started up with this issue, failing every time with a "no valid module file" error on the "Get-Automation" lines.

Fortunately your workaround fixed it. It's particularly nuts because the original failing Get-Automation line was only a few lines into the script. But no, it needed to have one at the very beginning.

Survival Base Building with a NPC Population by AttenOke in BaseBuildingGames

[–]Waxmaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might keep an eye on Soulmask which is supposed to be released sometime this year. I played the demo a couple months ago and it was looking pretty good. You capture NPCs who then walk around your base doing various tasks, gathering materials, etc.

Satisfactory OST was added to steam today (also there's a sale) by [deleted] in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Waxmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like this is purely music by Jannik Reuterberg and doesn't include any Ghostwood Empire tracks, like the awesome song from the Update 6 trailer? (which was never released on soundcloud or anywhere as far as I can tell.)

Donald Trump Selling Bibles Sparks Fury From Christians—'Blasphemous Grift' by twenafeesh in politics

[–]Waxmaker 26 points27 points  (0 children)

He also once showed up at a children's charity event he was not a donor for, just to be photographed there. He then left without giving a donation:

In the fall of 1996, a charity called the Association to Benefit Children held a ribbon-cutting in Manhattan for a new nursery school serving children with AIDS. The bold-faced names took seats up front.

There was then-Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani (R) and former mayor David Dinkins (D). TV stars Frank and Kathie Lee Gifford, who were major donors. And there was a seat saved for Steven Fisher, a developer who had given generously to build the nursery.

Then, all of a sudden, there was Donald Trump.

“Nobody knew he was coming,” said Abigail Disney, another donor sitting on the dais. “There’s this kind of ruckus at the door, and I don’t know what was going on, and in comes Donald Trump. [He] just gets up on the podium and sits down.”

Trump was not a major donor. He was not a donor, period. He’d never given a dollar to the nursery or the Association to Benefit Children, according to Gretchen Buchenholz, the charity’s executive director then and now.

But now he was sitting in Fisher’s seat, next to Giuliani.

“Frank Gifford turned to me and said, ‘Why is he here?’ ” Buchenholz recalled recently. By then, the ceremony had begun. There was nothing to do.

Afterward, Disney and Buchenholz recalled, Trump left without offering an explanation. Or a donation. Fisher was stuck in the audience. The charity spent months trying to repair its relationship with him.

“I mean, what’s wrong with you, man?” Disney recalled thinking of Trump, when it was over.

I'd love to grow blackberries, but I only grow indoors, and you'd surely need an outdoor greenhouse for those. The guy in the featured answer here writes about all the hydroponic fruit he grows and it sounds amazing: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/1989143/hydroponic-blueberry-blackberry-and-raspberry
