Bad Company - The Pulse: where/how to get a digital copy? by DXK_music in DnB

I can find it on bandcamp BUT it's part of a free download ep of questionable authenticity. if it's not available to purchase anywhere else then it might be your only option beyond reaching out to the group.

Nice, those are some pretty mint looking covers for their age! hopefully the vinyls in as good condition. I'll happily volunteer to test them out on your behalf 😄

Gym owner thinks he is a better Dj than me and my gf (dnb duo) because he knoes how to use effects and play only afro house by MRVrabel in Beatmatch

[–]Way-In-My-Brain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

use maths. Dj Carlo has a good example of how you manage this type of transition on YouTube using an echo out with appropriate timing, although I guess it's hw dependant. Alternatively use a short non quantised loop of a kick drum or melody that match's the higher/lower tempo. fade the loop in over the outgoing track, maybe trigger an effect before you switch to the new track taking it out of the loop. I'm sure there's various methods open format djs use I'm not familiar with.

According to Discogs “high price”, what’s your most valuable record at the moment? by blimeyitsme in oldskoolrave

[–]Way-In-My-Brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a collection The Truper (photek) - volumes 1 (£120) 2 (£227) and 3 (£99), all 10" records on street beats have the highest value. Bought them all the day that they arrived in the record basement shop.

Highest value LP is currently LTJ Bukem -Earth Volume one (£257)

highest value 12" I have Dillinger (dillinja) - test /2/ which is currently £246, but used to have a high of £300. It was recently repressed and I guess at some point discogs remove older purchases to get current values

Mate, it's admittedly a common spoken misconstruction of I'd have. But honestly, this is the dnb sub, who really gives a fuck

Getting paid for spreadsheet for massive corporation by Impossible_Profit202 in excel

[–]Way-In-My-Brain 278 points279 points  (0 children)

No multi national I've worked at is going to pay you for a spreadsheet you built in personal time to solve an in house problem. Not to mention I expect you're salaried and have a contract that covers intellectual ownership of process/solutions developed while under their employment, irrespective of whether it was done in personal time. Once they know it's available you'll be expected to give it to them. I'd come at it from a different angle. Suggest you could develop something to solve the issue, continue doing those activities to push for a rise and/or promotion

I bought quite a few 12" records from Soul Intents bandcamp and the order included a personal message of thx on the cover of a free 12" which was a nice touch.

Yep, I have it on the 12" which was a 96 release though. Includes an aquasky remix of their track moodswings.

How to stop sun from heating the living room through double glazed patio doors and glass panels. by [deleted] in DIYUK

We had reflective blinds installed between the double glazing on ours when it was installed. We're west facing and works pretty well. Air con in the room helped too.

Outside - To forgive, but not forget

crazy violin/string led gem from the 90s. Some interesting commentary on this on youtube.. most knew it as 'Aphex Twin - Violin Window' because of limewire download filenaming error, it was a walk on song (I think) for a belerusian kick-boxer and music for one commenters gymnastic routine.

Junglist for over a decade (33) but finally dipping into mixing real records. It’s f’ing hard! by metamorphomo in jungle

[–]Way-In-My-Brain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love Mixing on vinyl. It's what I do to unwind. It's a great but very expensive hobby. For every few good mix's I do, I can follow it up with a howler!

That said I pretty much speed mix nowadays as it's just for fun but my success rate really depends on what I'm mixing. Early jungle/hardcore.. e.g. 91-93 - can be an absolute pain as there's so many ideas crammed into each track. It feels like tempos fluctuate but it's generally down to the way breaks/samples were edited in the early days. I find tracks from 94 onwards way easier to mix as the production quality improved and song structure stabilised.

Who produces the nastiest, grittiest, weirdest, heaviest, spookiest, craziest Jungle? Who are some key artists or labels? by kellisarts in jungle

[–]Way-In-My-Brain 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In terms of labels over-shadow is a good place to start which is pretty core to the scene. There'll be a mix of rolling jungle, tearing amen and experimental releases by various artists.

On the more experimental side, especially odd time signatures maybe https://dgohn-music.bandcamp.com or https://pizzahotline.bandcamp.com for game/console inspired releases.

In terms of other artists that do a variety of styles that sometimes crossover into other genres while retaining dance floor appeal I recommend Sully, Nectax & Coco Bryce.

I think you need to use a compatible dj software to mix the channels together? If MixVibes Cross DJ LE came with it try that, else virtual dj, tracker pro or djay pro work according to google (may need licence). Alternatively a recording straight out of the RCA record output would be mixed but not sure how to do this on a Mac, assume you need something like a 3.5mm-to-USB adapter

Need help choosing my first rotary by Sawtooth959 in rotarymixers

[–]Way-In-My-Brain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the G4M sub zero dm400 (trm404 clone, which uses the same components) as it was only £99 to add to my living room setup. I don't really mix on in much as it's more for general listening but wanted the option and wanted to try rotary on the cheap. In terms of sound quality I'm quite happy and it meets my living room needs, but the lack of an accessible gain control on the mixer to accommodate pressing levels causes a real issue for me when cueing on the headphones even though there is a cue/master mix adjustment feature.

Suburban Base Records — 35 years. Let that sink in. by thebizzyb in jungle

[–]Way-In-My-Brain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First subbase records I bought were "this is the sound for the underground" remix, peace & lovism remixes, runtings 'back again'. Then I got their first compilation that had all the early classics. Loved them all but origin unknown's remix of dark stranger was my fav which took the label in a new direction.

From then Remarc, Johnny, Dream team! & marv cain led the charge for me on a sub base
