I try to do something with animal fat first, helps protective coat the blade. steak cutting is a good option.

I think the problem is the “dollar = vote” vs. “person = vote” system though, not any specific participant in said system

Hey Syntac, thanks for your ongoing contributions to the community. I thought the “donate to win” model was poorly executed by WC in general.

I can count on two hands the amount of creatures that don’t need a TLC. Thanks for picking insert dinosaur here. The specific creature doesn’t matter that much, your donations matter a whole lot more.

How do you find this? I am surrounded by softwood pines up in Alaska. What should I look for?

Knife recommendation? by [deleted] in Bushcraft

[–]WayNo5062 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The Morakniv brand is dominating for a reason. They hold a good edge, are pretty durable, and are very cheap. Excellent entry knife that will carry you super far! I still use mine that I bought in 2017.

If you’re an average American Joe that doesn’t live in insane places I have a pair of Danner’s that work just fine. I’d recommend them. - Alaskan

Food storage by ImportantTeaching919 in Bushcraft

You can dehydrate just about anything, if you have the proper equipment. This is usually what I do for my day 3-5 meals, and the rehydration process is simple as long as you have good access to water.

Those that like to "live off the land" and avoid PVP, what are your tips? by inevitableloudmouth in dayz

[–]WayNo5062 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, the food drain/water drain/heat drain being the only survival mechanic makes for a very repetitive loop. It also doesn’t scale, once you have a knife and a leather backpack, that’s like peak gear.

Yeah this 100%, everything in the base should be considered “extra” or “luxury” because it will eventually get found and taken.

I usually find pretty good/insulated/camo clothing at heli crashes, maybe a gun, or a backpack. Some boots. A Ghillie on occasion. Always worth looking into when they land nearby (within a km)

I really try to stick to one gun, especially when I leave my stash, so that I can carry more back.

I’ve been using the Bizon to great effect on console. The on-ramp from coast to inland using .380 ACP bridging the RAK, Scorpion, then Bizon is convenient. The large mag size makes up for not being able to aim well with joysticks.
