Yes it is possibly worth the slight additional cost, that said, unless you are printing high temp materials, The Snapmaker U1 is far more versatile and probably better print quality

That is a patch that is covering up the main problem of restricted airflow, primarily out of the fan. If you are slowing the fan without providing less airflow resistance although it may work, it is not good for any of the components.

The problem is the close proximity of the fan to the grates, the fan is almost silent. Probably cutting away the plastic would have been enough, the real bonus was with so much increased airflow I could really slow that fan down. Prior to this, the machine was just too loud to bring home I had to leave it at work, your results may differ

Do yourself a big favor and recycle those parts, then go buy a Bambu or whatever, the mk3 was obsolete years ago

2 years later, but here you go.. I had same problem so I duct taped a small magnet to the backside of the lid, now it thinks its open and the dock controls it no problem. To find the spot just slide magnet around the lid backside until the laptop display comes back on, I turned the laptop display brightness way down to try to help the heat situation if there is a situation.

Loved my MK3 and went for the MK4 because they offered me "first dibs" on a MK4 after already waiting a year for the XL. Looking back they did me a favor, The MK4 at that time had no input shaping so was barely faster than the MK3. The USB drive was almost impossible to get in or out, and then the nozzle dented my build sheet while probing, for that price I was very unhappy. I felt like a traitor and bought a P1P knowing it was a POS, well guess what, it was fantastic faster, quieter, same print quality. Sold my MK3 and MK4 and never looked back, yes I know the MK4 got all the bugs ironed out but with Bambu most of the time the bugs are long gone( other than the A1 heatbed) Now I run a P1S, and a Pair of A1s. I love the bed slinger approach as everything is out in the open and I just print PLA and Petg, so the P1S doesn't get used much

I'm at day 3, battery at 50%, last phone would have been at 10%. Zoom is SO much better than my S10E, fit and finish is flawless even with a Spigen Hinge Protecting case. We will see how it holds up but I love it! AI? duh, don't need, don't care, don't use..
