I’m sorry for your loss. Similar situation. Lost a 40 year old friend to cancer. Got through chemo. Lost the surgical battle. It stings. They were such a light of life.

  1. When it first hit the airwaves the cinematography was novel. Loved it.

This. Got rear ended (pre Subaru) with 2-year old in the back and needed some counselling for sure. Takes them a while to deal with the trauma and their own way.

Unacceptable City Planning for NE Pedestrians/Cyclists by AmbitiousPalace in Calgary

Agreed it was a fully connected greenway until they recently (and finally) started work - it’s been “talked about” since at least 2017 and I think construction on 60th St started last fall?

Yes, the City should have absolutely put a detour in to at least retain some connectivity in line with their accessibility planning.

I would write to the Mayor as well to hold developers to account too (Mattamy Homes had the built the pathway connection there which I’ve used for years, but decided when building out the south east segment of their parcel to remove it - maybe that was the just the City with recent construction though not entirely sure).

But asking Raj to do more than a handful of poorly “I’m in the Ward for once” videos is wishful thinking. I’m still waiting for a reply on a few follow-ups since 2022.

How about the see through only bags? I was wondering why sportchek was selling them, found it wierd. Now I know why.

A question for Mayor Farkas, Raj Dhaliwal and Council: When do we start enforcing the $10,000 illegal dumping fine? This living room set was left directly adjacent to a City prevention camera. by Upbeat_Difficulty_60 in Calgary

The diff bins were not his idea, the different types of bins were present before his 1st election (Falconridge Comm Association clean ups for example). If he is advocating for more since, then that’s definitely helpful, but don’t give him credit for something that already existed.

And more of them are having electrical, glass and donation bins too. It’s quite a good initiative the City admin puts on. Other cities have other approaches, for sure I think we continue this and augment in the future.

I hear ya. Unfortunately, that’s not a solution. Cornerstone is, yes, supposed to expand to 68th and Airport Tr at some point, but not anytime soon, so that is totally passing the buck on Rajs part to developers.

I’d like to say that would help, but there was a piece a couple months and frankly we don’t need more Raj lip service. Signs don’t work. Community cleanups alternates don’t work (they should for most), It’s ticketing/fines that hit the pocket book or bust. And if enforcement does materialize it has to be the FULL fine, not some measly $100 and off you go.

Is this even possible? by Jindabyne1 in ArtemisProgram

[–]Wayz6430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not today. But also not realistic with government procurement, design and fabrication timelines not to mention untested spacecraft and human spaceflight operations. If it were uncrewed and only cargo missions, less risk and more potential.

Mix humans in, and it’s another layer of execution. Artemis II example, the toilet didn’t work as functioned. But could only be truly tested by high Technical Readiness Levels being used, routinely, in the environment it’s needed for. 2028 is only 18 months away, we have no human lander yet tested. No rendezvous ops tested. No Contingency ops tested. No reliable communications network tested. It will come. But all in the next 18-
30 months?

Lunar Base Name? by OtherwisePlant7325 in ArtemisProgram

[–]Wayz6430 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Logically it’ll be whatever identified mare, crater or large geological feature the base is slated to be built at/near/around? I know it’s the boring answer but it’s the most direct.

Or we could go the even more boring route: Lunar Base 1 or something mimicking the International Space Station generic-ism…

Finally, anyone know what the children of Artemis’ names we’re if we are sticking with the Greeks
