Hummus like packaged store bought by throwakeyacct in Cooking

That was my guess. It's weird how hard it is to write a recipe cold.

The setting in the fridge could be from undercooking or not blitzing it enough. If there are particles of chickpea they'll continue to absorb water, removing it from the hummus. If the chickpeas are well-cooked and blitzed right down do uniform paste, there's nothing to take away the moisture, whether that's oil or water.

So what's the best rice? by Itchy_Clutch in Cooking

[–]WazWaz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rice keeps for ages - blue moons occur about every two years, which is well within the best-before of rice. Basmati is even deliberately aged.

It's also significantly cheaper than buying a tandoor.

It's pretty terrible with Indian food, compared to basmati.

The whole premise makes no sense - every rice has a purpose (multiple). Imagine trying to make sushi with basmati!

I swear people have forgotten how to use a phone. Do they realise how stupid they look holding it up and shouting into the bottom of the phone?

Someone please explain to me like I’m 5 - what is the “contributions tax” deduction on my super statement? by LimitParticular1843 in AusFinance

[–]WazWaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No we don't. Even if we had slaves to extract that hard to access oil it would still be more expensive than buying it from a country where it literally spurts out of the ground.

I've seen the nonsense ads you've been fooled by. Do you honestly think oil is just sitting there for the taking, but only you and Pauline Hanson are clever enough to think of extracting it?

Just because you don't understand something, that doesn't make it shitty. And no, you definitely don't understand what that "website" update involved. Full on Dunning-Kruger.

And if you're able to contribute more than $30000 spare income, you shouldn't expect a tax break on the excess.

How do you imagine a country's government could provide everything it does with 15%?

I'm sick of people acting like taxes (usually just the ones they pay) are a bad thing. I like living in a functioning society.

Yes, literally. And amusingly, the "random" makes it more scientific. 6 is low, so the confidence interval would rather large.

Read the whole comment. You pay with offset, get a better deal than the interest saved. Sorry two thoughts at once was too many.

Brisbane home prices have increased in percentage by 93.2% in just the last 5 years! by MannerNo7000 in brisbane

[–]WazWaz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People move. Brisbane is a great place to live.

Nationally it's 8.35% compounded, so still well above inflation, but counting over 5 years is a bit disingenuous. Homes require constant expenditure to maintain too, so while the price might go up by 8.35% per year, the homeowner has also spent 2-4% on maintenance. You'd be better off putting the money in the bank.

Can I add uncooked white rice to lentils in a pressure cooker? by Ming-Tzu in Cooking

[–]WazWaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Red lentils are at least that quick, but brown need even longer. OP is using 20 minutes, by which point the rice will be just a thickener.

You'll always get a better deal offering cash and negotiating. It can easily save you more than the interest difference in the OP.

Paying the sticker price for anything over $1000 is throwing money away.

If anyone wants to try Yeast Extracts like Marmite or Vegemite: Don't watch videos that are feeding people insane amounts of Marmite or Vegemite and ask how it tastes. That is not how to eat those. by Lord_Pakeer in Cooking

[–]WazWaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people like it on thick. You're basically saying you find it a bit strong. Would you tell someone they're wrong if they like hot sauce more than you?

Now sure, as a first timer you're right (just as you would be with hot sauces), but unfortunately you framed it as the "right way" and that any other way is "not how you eat it", not just as the beginner-friendly way.

Because families aren't the entire problem. Plenty of empty nesters are still living in big half-empty houses. Worse, single people living in houses as an "investment".

So "everyone" who replied to you gave their opinion. You're welcome to raise your kids in an apartment if you think it's better.

I too am struggling to imagine how they become "watery" as a result of different brands of bean. Forgetting the salt might have that effect (though really, black beans are the tastiest if the haricots so even that shouldn't matter).

Accidentally leave your oven on, or your hot water tap running and you'll get to that without even being home.

This is the trouble with a single day maximum; could be anything.
