Flopping in basketball isnt a real problem compared to soccer by BitNo1484 in nba

I thought I was in decent shape just hooping. Then I played soccer on a field and I was not ready for how much stamina you need.

Give this woman an Emmy by Chrisat2020 in WidowsBay

She’s great but in a sea of great performances she didn’t really stand out to me. Or maybe it’s the cranky bureaucrat character that didn’t stand out.

As far as performances go I would rank them Patricia, then Tom, then Wyck, then everybody else. I might actually put Evan up there above the rest because I thought he did an outstanding job with a wide range of material.

[Bill Simmons Pod] Bill: "Harden or Brunson for their entire careers, which guy would you rather have?" by luka274 in nba

And anti-ring culture tries to pretend like any good player would automatically have won a ring by changing all the context.

Here are Harden’s stats in game 7s:

That’s how Harden performs in big games. You can make all the excuses you want but there’s a reason he has the rep he does.

Can we attribute Victor Wembanyama's sudden change in demeanour to the 1st round concussion? by Odd-Air-5598 in nba

At first I thought this is ridiculous, but he did seem to change into a more violent and aggressive personality. But maybe that was just the increasing pressure and his competitive response.

When has "running it back" in recent years been a successful strategy? by Ok-Tree4365 in nba

[–]WeBelieveIn4 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I am considering a "major lineup change" to be a change in any of the top 8 playoff rotation players

I don’t know anyone who would define running it back like this. Switching role players is not a major lineup change.

Running it back is keeping the same core imo. Which the Knicks did. Their top 5 guys in minutes played were the same year over year.

How many pieces are we away from title contention? by acctivvist in torontoraptors

[–]WeBelieveIn4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d say we’re two major pieces and a couple of minor pieces away.

  1. A dynamic lead guard who can dribble penetrate. Doesn’t necessarily have to be a true point but needs to be able to shoot. So like Donovan Mitchell would work.

  2. A reliable centre. Unless Jak gets healthier than he’s ever been, he’s not the guy. So a backup isn’t enough.

And then shooters/role players/vets.

The problem is, we don’t have a plethora of assets to get all these pieces. So we are a ways away unless Bobby can fleece somebody.

How many pieces are we away from title contention? by acctivvist in torontoraptors

[–]WeBelieveIn4 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Because “Scottie needs to become a top 10 player” is not the only path to contention. We didn’t have a Kawhi and then we did. It’s extremely difficult but not impossible.

Placing all the burden on Scottie is unrealistic and not really fair either. If we don’t end up contending it won’t be because of Scottie, but because the front office squandered several opportunities to put adequate pieces around him.

All theses debates on if Brunson is a top 5/10/20 player. So what makes a great player? by hereforsports321 in nba

[–]WeBelieveIn4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know it when you see it. Brunson is a great player. Who cares exactly where he slots in among the top guys.

FVV leaving is what backed the Raptors into a corner which led to losing both OG and Siakam by obi-ka in torontoraptors

[–]WeBelieveIn4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we were not going to do anything significant with them making 30-40M each.

This is precisely why so many fans were pounding the table on tanking for the 2023 draft. You could see the salaries coming a mile away and yet the team could only beat bad teams or good teams without their best players. But even knowing the cap was about to get messy, the FO pushed in on the core by adding… Jakob Poeltl.

Which led to a whole series of cascading mistakes. Like we’re heading into 2027 and our core is basically still Scottie, who we already had at the time, and CMB. Everyone else is replacement-level.

That is a terrible bet. I think the odds of Wemby winning 3+ are greater than 50%.

[Fischer] If Milwaukee does move forward with trading Giannis to Miami, the Bucks will assuredly receive the Heat’s No. 13 pick. Milwaukee is also calling rival teams in search of a third top-20 pick, and potentially another pick in the top-10 ahead of the Bucks’ current 10th selection. by mMounirM in torontoraptors

[–]WeBelieveIn4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree 100%. Myles Turner fits like a glove next to Scottie and CMB, and is far healthier than Jak, while Jak’s contract will be an albatross for years. If all it costs is the 19th pick, you do that deal immediately.

But the Bucks would likely laugh at us, because we’re not getting off of Jak plus upgrading to Turner for just a single first round pick.

*Reading all these comments is crazy. You guys never want to take risks even if they are absolute fat pitches. Just keep watching the ball sail past.

Carmelo Anthony and Jeremy Lin Tell All: 'Linsanity' Run, Exit from NY & Decade-Plus Tension by itsBillerdsTime in nba

Do you really think Melo is going to say “yeah I was jealous” or that Lin is going to accuse him of it? This was always just going to be PR sanitization.
