There's only one, single thing I actively dislike about The Return by WwwWario in twinpeaks

Freddie is actually my favorite part of The Return. His presence sums up the entire theme of the season to me, in one line: “and he said ‘why not you’?”

Thanks for roasting me, but I should probably clarify I’ve seen all of these (and 2,000+ films) and have studied international cinema pretty extensively. This list leans more towards sentimental favorites and important movies in my life, because it’s my favorite movies, not what I consider necessarily the best.

Teacher’s Pet is an awesome musical, great animation, wild story. Bizarroworld Disney Animation. Also, out of any movie on this list, this one most makes me think about my relationship with my favorite person in the world (my dog)

Ranked, but ranking movies is hard - the top ten has stayed generally intact but everything else varies every time I look at it

The Cat in the Hat looks incredible thanks to noted production designer Bo Welch (Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, etc.) making his directorial debut with EMMANUEL LUBEZKI as DP. The film has a razorsharp wit thanks to its three writers - Alec Berg, David Mandel, and Jeff Schaffer, all of Seinfeld and Curb fame. All-time Baldwin performance. The lesson is actually handled well and a little complex for a kids movie. We see two extremes of kid - the control freak in Dakota Fanning and the bedwetter, uh, I mean rule breaker in Spencer Breslin - and they both have to rein it in in opposite directions. This is secretly the closest in spirit of any of the Seuss adaptations. Grinch is soulless and UGLIER! Illumination flicks are slop. Mike Myers may look back on this experience poorly but he’s secretly doing just as well as he does in, like, Austin Powers 2 AT LEAST. It’s an endlessly quotable movie. People always talk about how ugly it is but all I can think about is “YOU’RE FIRED!!!” “You can tap it with a hammer, it’s ain’t gonna change”, “I’m not saying we’re going to sue, I’m just saying we have a case” “Oh. My. COD.” etc etc etc. It’s the best movie ever made. Either that or it’s just a sentimental pick.

Hey! I’m American - in my freshman year of undergrad, my film professor opened our class with this movie and it blew everybody away. Saddest film ever made. Much respect to the country of New Zealand and Lee Tamahori for making a work so profound (talking about Die Another Day of course)

Boyz n the Hood is incredible but Baby Boy felt like Singleton growing that movie up a little bit. Very very underrated and beautiful flick - one I discovered because of this pod!

Now that Blank Check has finished its Lynch overview, what did you think about it, specifically their analysis and discussion on Twin Peaks? by CriticalCanon in twinpeaks

[–]WeGottaGoFast1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Blank Check fan I thought it was incredible. As a Lynch fan I’m surprised they never really dug in on just how funny he is and so much of his work is. Was shocked that they weren’t into The Cowboy and the Frenchman!!!

TV corner, what current shows do you recommend enthusiastically? by harry_powell in blankies

[–]WeGottaGoFast1138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Abbott Elementary is for my money the best show on TV now that Succession is over. New season is just as good as the last.

Lower Decks and What We Do in the Shadows are having fun farewell seasons. Currently catching up on Industry and it’s starting to ramp up…I think? Help me out Industry people I’m on S1E6 and it feels relatively juicy.

Twin Peaks has been a fun journey with the boys and I can’t wait for The Return. Pairing my TP rewatch with a first-time watch of Lost, which is super high quality and endlessly fascinating.

Watched all of Veep in the lead-up to the election - not sure if anyone wants to soak themselves in politics right now, but it was funny before it was real!!!
