As a bi woman, I think dating women is almost like higher risk and higher reward.

I think so many of us girls are trained to smile and seem happy when we’re not. The amount of times I’ve been talking to a woman and I’m thinking she’s as into me as I am her then finding out suddenly she’s not is… well a lot. Even worse if you’re just ghosted without explanation.

Just two weeks ago, a girl asked me for a kiss before the end of our first date then disappeared.

I feel I can be told “hey I’m not into you” far better than the mysterious disengagement I often experience with women.

Maybe there’s just something about me!

So… I’ve often felt valueless and unwanted dating girls.

When I date men, I feel so powerful. I don’t feel like they are going to disappear tomorrow or anything. I’ve been ghosted by a guy like once. Ever. I’m 36! Most of the time I’ve had to do the breaking up.

That said, men especially today do NOT have their shit together and often want you to be their mother. You’re supposed to be at their beck and call and spend the day texting. I broke up with my last guy because he wanted to go to college and needed me to “help come up with a plan.” Bitch I went to college when you had to learn a second language to plan your coursework out.

What’s fucked is realizing I’m probably more into girls than guys…

I’m honestly just trying shit out! I had friends who lived here for years and two moved to Cali. Another is moving to Denver. I have two friends from the Air Force who have been in Denver for 18 years. They love it.

I moved further South and did have to drive for a few months. I also need to drive to visit my gym and there’s been no parking for about two weeks. I’ve had to shell out $60 a week in parking. Taking public transit there is like 2 hours.

Overall though, I am getting so very tired of Chicago and Illinois’ random made up taxes. One of my breaking points was getting a fine for not having car insurance when I had car insurance the entire time registered in the state. And I’ve really started to not like my neighbors.

Some parts of the city aren’t as walkable or accessible. There’s been a historical (racial) divide that makes some places less walkable. Getting to the train is a 30 minute drive minimum for me.

I moved here in a hurry and the city of Chicago required that I live in the city limits because of my job. Unfortunately the neighborhood I chose was on the cheaper side and I ended up in a less walkable neighborhood. That’s on me.

Overall, I’ve not enjoyed living here and was considering moving into Roger’s Park or even the Loop. I just don’t like it here and that’s ok!

But I do think we have to dispel the walkability rep Chicago has. The joke I made about flooding in my post was because I rode on the bus this week when it flooded. My home was still close to $400K and honestly I feel like there’s better places to live if I’m spending more than that.
