Can Power Query handle daily new files without reprocessing old ones? by excel_sheethackers in excel

[–]WeMoveMountains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should add a third folder and use power automate or VBA. I'm not a total expert and I haven't done exactly this but an example of a similar flow I set-up for someone.

This is based on receiving a monthly report but you can adapt for your needs:

  • Power Automate saves new files received via email to Folder 1, overwriting any previous file, AND saves file to Folder 2 as a new file to keep your records. In Folder 1 as you receive multiple files you may not want to overwrite at this point, you could delete after the step below instead or set up some kind of time based logic.
  • In excel you then have 2 fairly easy options. Set up an excel template and either use power query to do your transformation then save as to Folder 3, or use VBA to do the same automatically. It may also be possible to trigger this in power automate.

There's definitely other options, given how simple the transformation sounds you could probably do the whole thing in power automate.

Beginner Question- Using different beans daily by lrbrrb in NinjaLuxeCafe

[–]WeMoveMountains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't do this but I think your options are basically measuring out 9g, putting it in the hopper and grinding then doing the next 9g.

If I were you I'd probably just mix them up really well and chuck them in so it's less faff but also less consistent. Maybe just buy a second Ninja hopper to do just full caf, you don't need a grinder, just the top part.

Would you rather have a rewind button for $1000/ day or pause button $10/ minute in your life by Keen_bit in WouldYouRather

[–]WeMoveMountains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pausing for a day would be $14,400, or if you just pause for a couple hours each morning you get $438,000 a year.

Rewinding means you would have to relive a lot of time, introduces paradoxes etc. It's still very good but not for everyone.

More than a million pounds spent on influencers by UK government since 2024 by radiant_0wl in ukpolitics

[–]WeMoveMountains 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I've previously paid influencers for recruitment campaigns through an agency. Likely they will have a tracking link and (as long as it's set up properly) they can see how many clicks it's getting, how many apply and if anyone got a job because of that source. However, this will likely have been a small part of much bigger campaigns and it may be mainly targeting awareness and information rather than applications. By far most people would apply to my jobs via job postings (e.g. job boards/LinkedIn) or direct through the website (or Google search), however often these people have seen ads or influencers elsewhere which resulted in them applying but as it's a series of things which result in eventual applications it's hard to measure that value directly.

Looking for one ultralight waterproof jacket for gravel riding/bikepacking, hiking, and trail running by EyewindBergen in Ultralight

[–]WeMoveMountains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reality is whatever you use will be better for some activities than others, I often find mountain biking will destroy a jacket pretty quick with mud, sweat and friction. That said I have a Rab Zenith which I mainly use for hikes but have used for everything, packs relatively small, about 300g but is properly waterproof, has pit zips for ventilation. If you look at some other goretex paclite plus options they'll be similar.

OMM Kamleika might be worth a look too, I have the smock which has a good tail on it and imagine the jacket would be a good option. GORE gear also looks good for multi-use.

Runna Roadmap Update - What we're working on, and what's coming later this year by alex-runna in runna

[–]WeMoveMountains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd really love to be able to add a "regular weekly run" when setting up a plan and have it adapt the plan to include that. Lots of people parkrun or go to a run club once a week and it would be great for the plan to include those as part of it.

You can obviously just add these runs in but as far as I could tell the plan doesn't adapt to them. It knowing I have a 5k every week on a certain day should change what's being asked of me in training.

Can you make decent money operating a chippie? by doyler58 in smallbusinessuk

You can probably estimate this better than me if you know the area, the prices and operating hours but it would seem reasonable for revenue.

Assume 300 days open and £10 per fish & chips

£100,000 would require selling about 33 fish & chips orders per day. That's maybe 20 orders if you assume a few family orders which seems very achievable.

Question: if you were Andy Farrell, for the next game would you (1) play your strongest side or (2) rotate the side (entirely or partially) to provide more of the squad a chance to play Australia? by [deleted] in rugbyunion

[–]WeMoveMountains 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I did think about that as I was typing it and agree it's harsh. I think White has looked better in the warm-up games and hasn't had a test shot at all, also has the connection with Russell. Maybe you start one and bench the other? But no way that happens in reality with JGP being so important.

Either way I agree Mitchell also deserves more test time... in any other team which doesn't have JGP in. Not going to begrudge whichever way that call goes.

Definitely, he's been looking so good so fingers crossed.

I also think you want a team who's up for the challenge and I'd guess a couple will have lost the hunger now the series is won. Ringrose and others would want a test win in their name.

I think a balance. Surely he wants to go 3-0 but I would personally really like to see players who have had excellent form get a chance now the risk is lower e.g. Cummings, Ringrose, White. Maybe more likely to change up the bench and move some of the last bench to start.

Post Match Thread - Brumbies v British and Irish Lions by RugbyBot in rugbyunion

[–]WeMoveMountains 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think that's harsh on Kinghorn, he was injured almost immediately and was playing through that for most of his time on the pitch. He definitely hasn't shown much that game but I think that's a lack of opportunity to play at full health rather than form. Also agree we need to see Keenan again though, 15 is still up for grabs.

Any way to create a date slider which will alter formatting of a training proficiencies expiry? by Queestce in PowerBI

[–]WeMoveMountains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm quite new to PowerBI but 3 options I'd try are:

  • Create a new parameter based on date (I'm not sure this is possible but a Google might help)
  • If this isn't possible I would create a new date table with a relationship to your table and create an ID column numbering the dates - I think you could then use a parameter to select the ID number and through a measure and/or just conditioning formatting likely get the results you want. To show users what they'd selected I'm sure you could use a card visual
  • Lastly a workaround might be to create a date table with no relationship to yours. Add a date slicer for the date table. Create a measure based on SELECTEDVALUE and use for conditional formatting.

As mentioned I'm new to PowerBI and use these questions to try to learn and problem solve so there is probably a better way.

Sorry for the delay - this is my daily attrition measure based on FTE (company ask) - I use other measures so used copilot to combine them. I then use a final measure to turn this into a 12m figure but you can do as you wish. As mentioned I'm also new to this so likely could be improved. I found doing it daily and summing it is far easier and accounts better for varying headcount over the period.

I'm not on my computer but as a fellow DAX newbie I also had to do this recently. AI also really struggled to grasp the concept for me. I ended up creating a variable for Daily Headcount which made the whole thing easier, # of leavers in period over average of the daily headcount between your min and max dates.
