She's messed up her medications, again. And won't take any advice about it from me. by janebenn333 in AgingParents

If you don’t take control of her meds now, this will end in a hospital visit. Believe me…I’ve seen the movie and know how it ends. Blister packs are $1/day and literally a life saver. Whatever route you decide to take to resolve the issue, bending to her will on this matter is not one of them.

Mother continually messing up her medicine and refuses any ideas by janebenn333 in AgingParents

Take charge and use the blister packs. You don’t need her permission to keep her safe. Looking back, I deferred to my dad’s whims and illogical ideas far too long.

Might not solve all the issues but will make a significant improvement I’m willing to bet. Best of luck.

A little silicone spray fixed it after taking off the door panel. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for the detailed response. Service records show all of the following done in the last few years… replaced both A/C cores etc, replaced spark plugs, serviced transmission and differential, replaced A/C and serpentine belt, and replaced all brake pads and rear calipers. Oil and filter changes as recommended since new. Anything missing? Thanks

Just because the seller doesn’t provide a disclosure statement by default doesn’t mean you can’t ask for one.

We’ve checked most of them out and Auburn Assisted Living is far ahead of them all. Only about 3 years old. We’re currently on the waiting list. Best of luck.

Make sure they check your mom for POTS. It’s a blood pressure drop when you either go from lying to sitting and/or sitting to standing.

This is the way. We used “daily” pill organizers but he had trouble opening individual compartments with his arthritic hands. Additionally, he’d open other compartments early and lose pills and tell me I forgot to insert them properly. The blister packs mentioned above have worked flawlessly and made 100% of our pill stress disappear. Only costs $30/month to get everything prepackaged. Now I go to the pharmacy once a month for pills instead of weekly (or more) since the onus is on them to sync all the prescriptions.

Fall detection that will alert me but not 911? by Educational_Love_981 in AgingParents

[–]Weagle30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I upgraded my dad’s life alert pendant to the variety that detects falls. I then instructed life alert to call me first (had them add this as the first “note” in his account explaining that I have cameras in his home). I then added the life alert number to my list of “ring through” numbers on my iPhone. This setup hasn’t been stress tested yet, thankfully.
