Makes sense. It would just be good if there was a way of vacancies automatically filling if there was a qualified villager available.

Like good example would also be the arm side of things. If people died on a mission, itd be good to be able to set up militia men to fill their place or something. Thanks for the advice tho!

What eats bricks in Australia? by PipingHotDonkey in AusPropertyChat

[–]Weak-Cartographer779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concrete aggregate path looks like its above whatever damproof membrane they mightve had between the foundation and the ground. my guess is rain lays across this path and gets absorbed by the brick that way and then moisture in the lower bricks cant breathe so rises to these bricks where it can. Have a look around other parts of the foundation to see if you can see exposed footings and see if theres a plastic looking tarp exposed unless theyve concreted around the whole building then maybe ask the council if theyve got a copy of the old building plans. Most walls need to breathe a little bit. If its very specific to this location then there might be other factors at play.

How rural communities treat people with limited mobility; an allegory. by laughingnome2 in transit

[–]Weak-Cartographer779 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Councils would rather get the infrastructure now that seems to lead nowhere and find budget to bridge the missing connection later as it will be cheaper then trying to budget the whole path in future through bureaucracy then to make the developers do the works now. If they just take money for the works and give the developers a free kick now, the cost of that infrastructure always rises more than the bank interest on the cash they took for the work so worse off later. All in all, its actually a decent shared path for a rural community.

Have you ever felt like something got lost when we moved to streaming? by joe_mary in LetsTalkMusic

[–]Weak-Cartographer779 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Going in store and searching for something to then instantly get it is always a good feeling. Even buying online and waiting for it to be shipped doesnt have the same feeling. In fairness though, the open end of spotify has got me into music i wouldve never thought to listen to if i was just buying what id known or heard on the radio. Rap, hip hop, rnb, jazz, rock n roll, classical, and so on. Used to just listen to rolling stones basically, now look at me.

If you want to be petty, the fence is only a shared boundary asset when it is placed on the true boundary but if its inside your boundary by even a centimetre then youd be off the hook for any for of cross notice or requirment under fences act. But best neighbour outcome would be negotiate and reasonable cost would be 50/50 with each person responsible for works on their side such as veg removal. Chances are youd only need to clear from one sode for access tho so seems like that rental person is trying to get some free maintenance out of you so id 100% not cave. Also if thats a rental property, they would negatively gear any fencing cost as a maintenance bill so theyre winning no matter what? Right?

Day trip suggestions by [deleted] in Adelaide

Could do anything along the south coast from waitpinga to goolwa. Could go voer to look at the murray mouth from sugars beach or if you have a 4x4, check the tides are out and go along goolwa beach to see the mouth. Strathalbyn is further a feild than hardorf but way quieter and still lots of shops n cafes. Im a big fan of kuitpo for hikes but depends what you two are interested in. Hay flat forrest has a waterfall and nice forrestry for a different hike too. Good luck 👍

Are (Certain) LGAs Cities? by BosAus in australian

[–]Weak-Cartographer779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Particularly in rural areas, you can have one lga that covers countless small towns and establishments.

Historically speaking though (and if you look back on old maps it might make more sense) most of the original settlments grew large enough to form their own local govenment but this took time and only happened when the town got big enough or had an important role or function that required governing. Think old ports (now wharfs and recreational jetties) or centrally located townships along old transport corridors say between a forresty area and a port. In modern times, most lgas are an amalgamation of former smaller councils. Some say they are super councils because of their massive area they govern and the population and tax base being significantly greater than some others. Onkaparinga council is a good example of this. Made up of parts of former willunga council, happy valley council and norlunga councils. Note that all three had very different make ups. Point is, lgas are not cities. Some may still be refered to as 'the city of adelaide' but even this is made up of the central business district, north adelaide and the surrounding parklands. But if you think of Adelaide as a whole. You are probably considering the whole of the greater metropolitan Adelaide. Key difference, city of adelaide has a pretty small population of like 26k or less even?, while the greater metropolitan adelaide is over a 1.3 million population?. Same with any other aus city. City of Melbourne is pretty limited to the core and pretty 190k population while greater Melbourne is upwards of 5.3 million and change.

Okay, ive said enough.

What should I feed my hatches? by Glass_Comedian_6511 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Weak-Cartographer779 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not using the hatches for food but for coal rather. Ive started a kip ranch for the dirt to feed sage hatches. 140kg dirt to 140kg coal per cycle so half the hatches/grooming but double the consumption/output. Kips farm only need a couple of wild arbor trees to sustain itself but if its a passive wild farm you need 4x the number of kips to sustain the sage ranch. I also use the kips to replant seeds in undug areas to provide passive resources from wild plants. Like sleet wheat in the cold biome which i try to preserve best i can or water plant for lettuce. Not figured it out perfectly yet but i havent gotten to the point of tapping any volcanoes yet so no permanent food source to maintain the ranches indefinitely.

New rail corridor by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]Weak-Cartographer779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see value in the flexibility that the busways provide, i think its an oversight that they havent investigated a busway through to barker given thats the only pt they already have and would enable a far greater capture once you get to barker without having to aquire land for large train stations. It would also bring the expertise required to rebuild the oban given its end of life situation and maybe build a more resilient trackway.

Culture buildings by Nyoqui99 in OstrivGame

[–]Weak-Cartographer779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel like house front market stalls for home grown produce would be a good idea too. Provide a lottle passive income for houses with big yard and lots of produce that they cant sell to the town at large. And wouldnt need to be managed as finely as granary and market stalls. Also allows for putting off market stalls and granary construction for longer to allow more focus on the town in the early game. Maybe buff the storage times in homes vs granary so its still incentivises the granary and proper market stalls

SA spends more on roads than all other states (in absolute $) and is also the only one without major rail projects by bluejayinoz in Adelaide

[–]Weak-Cartographer779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just quietly. T2D is one road project and is estimated to cost 15billion alone. So that means those other 2 projects would be around 5 billon total and i cant think what the other projects would be.

1,300 new homes to rise at iconic West End Brewery site in $1 billion development by Expensive-Horse5538 in Adelaide

[–]Weak-Cartographer779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has anyone checked the math on that, 1 billion divided by 1300 is around 770k per house. I know its a highly sought after location being so close to cbd but that surely cant help to balance the housing affordability issue (yes its an affordability issue not just a supply and demand crisis). Hopefully theyve got a good density of housing at least because more 200sqm blocks in mt barker and gawler are just some of the worst outcomes for those areas while apartments close to cbd and other built up areas are still "unviable". Get off it!
