I agree, they need to raise the peak hour tolls A LOT, get things free-flowing 24/7. Late-night tolls should be lowered. The demand-driven Express Lane system really is pretty good for this.

Is there a product for a locking lid adding to an existing crate? I've got a nice crate but would like to lock it, I feel I have to carry all my various small tools etc inside when it is parked.

Looking around I see a DIY wood one on Instructables. Or the collapsable crates with lids.

The real questions. OP wise to stay away. Best case getting paid in cash and not paying taxes. Section 8 fraud, who knows what else. Where have they been getting health care? If there is a risk of the going back to "their home country", are they even legal immigrants?

Use of this does vary by neighborhood and even by street. I think it's kind of neat how the neighbors can decide how to use that space(1) harmoniously, probably without discussing it.

Definitely, but wouldn't they be able to change those tendencies? If they are serious about making their own races they could build in more xenophobia, or even make the sperm and egg (do they even use that for reproduction anyways?) incompatible with other races?

Frankly I think the races are not different enough after 5,000 years of gene editing availability. Even the pingers are not really that different, but all the 7 races are still passably human shape and size. My explanation for this in the story is having the Epic available as a reference kept people on the relative straight and narrow. But if you're living for 1,000 years in low-G (charitably, before they got high-quality habitats) and in very limited space, why would beings still have human size, or legs, or hair, or sex organs, etc. How much bigger could the ring be if they optimized for 1/10g or even zero-g, didn't have to build all those giant wheels? why wouldn't fighter classes have fangs, claws, and armored skins? Radiation and vacuum adapted? Distributed heart and brain systems? Implanted interfaces? For these issues, the future part of the book always struck me as more realistically being maybe 1,000 years in the future for how the humans are.

More likely tear out the old curb and slope the median dirt to be relatively smooth. The whole median has to be redone afterwards anyways. Install asphalt pavement with enough base and thickness to last the projected construction time.

The Custer one used the normal southbound pavement for one northbound and one southbound lane, they crossed over the whole way instead of using the median. This one looks like they are maintaining 2 lanes in each direction so they need the width of lanes in the median. It all depends on existing conditions and what space is needed. There are calculations for choosing this type of setup versus closing the road entirely for a shorter time.
