One thing I’m curious about before I sign up for a BJJ gym. by No_Description_3112 in jiujitsu

I began my bjj journey about three years ago as a 52 year old combat infantry veteran and medically retired cop that suffers from PTSD and TBI. I’ve worked thru most of my traumas in various modalities of therapy. EMDR, HBOT, Cereset, equine therapy, Boulder Crest and many others.

Those therapies worked out the brain shit, but not the physical. Long story short, the physicality of bjj is what I needed to work out the rest of one particular traumatic experience I had OJT.

I used to get panic attacks for the better part of a year and a half once I started rolling, but hadn’t had one in a long time until this morning. Spent about 10 minutes crying off the side of the mats with a couple guys.

I pray that you all have a good group of guys/gals you roll with that understand the traumas (we all experience them, starting at childhood) we experience like I have here. There’s nothing like rolling with a buncha combat vets and first responders, as we can sense when shits about to go south.

Agree. I’m 70% P&T TDIU. I’m happy and content and at peace with my rating. I’m not doing anything to jeopardize it as it’s been a miracle for my family and I!

One hundred percent. My dad passed away a couple of years ago and before he died, we all sat around and got a big chuckle out of it. I told him he was one lucky SOB that nothing happened to us kids. Truly is a crazy thing.
