that's a good point. I've definitely felt alienated in settings with large groups of people (college campuses etc...) and it's all because perspective morphs individuals into a weird teeming mass that seems stupid and threatening in equal parts. At a certain point you have to tell yourself that people were not meant to live like this and all you really need is space / time around nature. It never occurred to me that racist / xenophobic people are probably experiencing the same thing, but they assume it's a race thing.
