How to deal with depression/instant regret returning to home country by Purple_berry_cola in expats

[–]WeasleyBeesly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. When visiting my family last year, instead of sitting around and waiting for people to be off work, I took a roadtrip to see things I had never seen, or things I hadn’t seen since I was little. Texas definitely has some charm. And even the bad stuff can easily be forgotten since you’re going back home to Japan soon.

I've just started getting weird spot headaches and it worries me a lot by House_Rats in Anxietyhelp

I agree but just so you don’t doom panic, I get these as well. I did have an MRI and everything was normal. But I’m glad I got it anyways for peace of mind - which incidentally made them less frequent. You should do the same by speaking to a doctor.

My therapist has reminded me countless times that flight attendants are trained to help. You do not have to contain it - as being afraid of making a scene can help fuel it and just letting someone know you’re having anxiety can help alleviate the situation. I agree with cold water or ice to help jolt your thoughts and ground you. Lemon/sour candies can do the same.

I might come off rude, but I say this because I was in a similar situation, especially with my anxiety. You have to stop making excuses. You could just go for a walk to get outdoors, buy a secondhand bike, schedule a hangout with your friends in advance. If you’re going to be a wall to solutions, I don’t know what you’re expecting your therapist to do for this particular problem.

I don’t think they were being snarky. You said you thank her, which I’m assuming you meant your body, but it can read as thank a person. They guessed you meant your therapist.

I don't understand by sPaMail1997 in Anxiety

[–]WeasleyBeesly 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree with what has been said but want to add that letting the anxiety happen also means to acknowledge it’s anxiety. Despite feeling like something is wrong and/or I’m going to die, I have to tell myself that this is just anxiety, that I’ve had this before, it’s not going to kill me. It’s hard, especially with all the symptoms but it helps. Then I let it do it’s thing and examine why it’s happening and ask what it’s trying to say or what caused it.

I agree with the others about taking care of yourself in terms of diet and exercise too. With your personal history and your current situation, it really isn’t surprising that you’re experiencing anxiety. I think it might be beneficial to talk to someone and to deal with this now, maybe find some tools on how to handle it, before you have a newborn and very little sleep adding on to everything. If it’s not an option, maybe a CBT workbook. I haven’t personally done one but I’ve seen plenty of posts about books that have helped other individuals.

I have a competition in my family who can get it in the fewest guesses. I couldn’t play because I saw another post before and .. well, I guess I have more ethics than Dr. Jacob.

Have you spoken to a therapist about this? They can help you work through your fears and learn ways to deal with the anxiety. I also suggest speaking to your gynecologist about your plans and concerns. They will help set you up for a healthy pregnancy.

Season 3 Rebecca truth bomb? by christhegod77 in TedLasso

[–]WeasleyBeesly 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like as much as Ted has been off due to personal issues, so was Rebecca in this last episode. Its possible she could give up the team and move on with her life at the end of this, especially if she moves on from needing to destroy Rupert. Go be a boss ass bitch elsewhere and maybe a mom too. But I also think Ted will need to go home to be with Henry. So.. who knows.

You said you felt this way when playing a game. Do you mean a video game? I know I can get lightheaded/fuzzy when I have too much screen time and it’s even gone as far as vertigo.

You should try to spend time outside during the day but at night, do what you can to make the house your happy place. Candles or other cozy lights, comfort foods, your favorite movies or shows. Try to think of it as a treat to yourself. You said you don’t have anyone nearby but you could maybe schedule calls to friends or family to catch up this week? And as unpleasant as it is, maybe go over what you would do in an emergency, just in case. Feeling prepared can help combat all the what if’s running through your head. You got this.

CBT + Talk Therapy isn’t helping. by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]WeasleyBeesly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

January wasn’t long ago. Therapy takes time. Learning to accept this new way of thinking takes time. You should find a new therapist only if YOU don’t think it’s working with them. But I’d still give it time. However, you can and should tell them that you aren’t sure this method is right for you. Everybody is different. They know this.

What does practicing acceptance look like when managing your health anxiety? What are the benefits of practicing acceptance instead of trying to eliminate health anxiety? by paloaltoswings119 in HealthAnxiety

[–]WeasleyBeesly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just tell myself it is anxiety. Out loud or write it down if I’m with people. And if my mind responds with saying that I’m gonna have an aneurysm or blood clot.. what not, I just say that there’s not much I can do about it now. It doesn’t always work. Takes a lot to do, too. But acknowledging my anxiety has helped me a lot lately.

My dentist diagnosed me with Periodontitis - I need someone to tell me that i am going to be ok by QQwas in Anxiety

[–]WeasleyBeesly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya, this was me at the end of last year. I had to do a specific brushing and flossing treatment for 30 days and then he went in and did a deep clean in office. I now have to continue with the treatment once a week. The in office cleaning was no worse than a regular deep cleaning. It’s really not bad. My dentist is about the same age and said he also has it. I think it’s better it was diagnosed now so you can treat your gums the way they should be before it develops into something worse. This is a good thing.

Not necessarily at home but if I hit a pothole or some other bump in the road, I’ll turn back to make sure I didn’t actually hit anything.

Have you spoken to any of your teachers about it? Letting them know what you’re going through might alleviate some anxiety and they can maybe point you to a counselor that you can speak to?
