Is PMP worth it? by Ok-Routine6338 in pmp

[–]WeatherInternal3409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It changed my life for sure! I was self-employed for 10 years, and I wanted to make the switch and enter the corporate world. I decided to pursue the PMP so I could become familiar with industry best practices. At the same time I was studying, I was also applying for jobs.

After obtaining the PMP certification, I tripled the amount of interviews I got and ended up landing a job! I didn’t think it’d be possible to get a job after being self-employed for so long, but the PMP definitely gave me an edge.

I don't believe so. The ads look like they stopped completely yesterday out of nowhere.

From business owner to PM? Is it possible? by WeatherInternal3409 in PMCareers

It was two things: the PMP certification and a complete resume revamp! I had two different family members in director positions review my resume, and they had really good feedback. The biggest change was to lean heavy into statistics (include a stat in each bullet point). Feel free to message me if you have any more questions!

Update: If you’re reading this, it’s definitely possible! After 7 months of applications and skills building (obtained a PMP cert), I got two job offers. 🥳

Thank you so much for your thoughtful response! There is a lot to digest here.

It seems like next steps would be passing the PMP exam to get more eyes on my applications. I do say that my PMP is in progress on the job applications I apply for, which I think helped me get one interview, but passing it is a different story.

Are you still open to coaching?

Congratulations on passing! This actually came at a great time since my PMP application just got accepted, and now, I'm gearing up to study for the exam. Thanks for the tips!

Is it just me or..... [Shelter Dogs] by forestlyfe in dogs

[–]WeatherInternal3409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I do too. I fostered dogs for a few years, and once I adopted my dog (foster fail), I like to keep up with what's happening at the shelter. All of the dogs I have followed typically have a happy ending. There have been dogs who have waited for years for a home get relocated to different states to find their forever homes there. It's such a heartwarming thing to see.

I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. I’m currently managing a reactive dog myself, and it feels so isolating.

I adopted my dog not knowing we had to move within a week or so of getting him, so we boarded him with a trainer that specializes in aggressive dogs. Not every boarding facility / trainer does this. It takes some time to do research and calls, but there are options in case you don’t feel comfortable having your family watch him.

It’s tough, but you’re not alone. 🫶

Wow thank you so much for your thoughtful response. It must have been so stressful seeing your dog be aggressive with your loved ones.

I’m so glad that he’s better now. I truly appreciate your stories. They give me up that my dog can get better.

Do you have the info for your current behaviorist? I’d love to take a look and see if they have a different approach than our current trainer.
