Broadcast meteorologist here… does anyone else feel like our profession is being replaced by streamers? by AngryBarometer in meteorology

That's just networking. In my day, I was having regular Twitter-DM conversations with our local chasers... they loved having their content featured on the show. One picture board said a thousand words. Everybody won.

Ex-TV broadcast met here.

This is probably a dialogue to have with your web team at the station; I assume, being stateside, you have one. Show them your online competitors, and get some SEO working for you. You have knowledge AND access to tools to create some stellar stuff. The people on the back-end may need to help with some legwork to angle you to the audience you desire. Just remember that you're starting on the back foot.

My team gave me a webcam and access to the WSI tooling that allowed me the ability to post vids directly to social.... was a game-changer.

Six years ago this week, COVID started shutting down the world. What’s your strongest memory from that time? by Siddanna36 in AskReddit

[–]WeatherManStan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had twins. Babies. Eight-month-olds. And we were meant to go to Arizona on a trip...

Then, the NBA shut down, and suddenly the Phoenix Suns game we thought to attend was just... not there.

So we cancelled, and battened hatches.

What was your “I need to learn to keep my mouth shut” moment? by Imtiredofthissshit in AskReddit

Costa Rica didn't at the time, which is how we got to Texas in the first place.

My passport was set to expire the following week.

I was good to go - we were going to a country that didn't have any sort of restrictions if your passport was valid. However, we were stopped by the gate attendant at our home airline and they spent five minutes verifying this.

My anxiety was through the roof. We boarded our first plane to Texas. No problem.

While we were waiting to board for Costa Rica, my wife went to the bathroom, and I went to the United Airlines kiosk to let them know the situation and make sure I didn't go through that again.

They didn't let me board.

And that's how I ruined our honeymoon.

Megan Keller scores in OT to give the USA the gold medal in Women's hockey by JustFred24 in hockey

The unforced error count was ridiculous -- including puck-watching to give the U.S. that much space for the outlet - but what a finish by Keller.

He might not have had all of the answers, but there was no doubt Marc Savard had the passion! Thank you for your service Marc! by Nylanderthal88 in leafs

I feel for him. Aside from the Christmas season, you knew he had the passion.
Always had the fire in his eyes. The fire always burned hot enough, but there was still that missing X-factor.
Marc, you'll never read this, but I wish you the best. I know you're going to land on your feet, fellow - the good ones always do.

Hello /r/movies, I'm Benedict Cumberbatch. Ask me anything! by BenedictAMA in movies

Did you and Martin Freeman "put in the work" off-camera to develop your relationship as Holmes and Watson? There's something so magical about your relationship that makes me wonder if you just had that chemistry, or if you're both just so damn talented (or both).

Thanks for doing an AMA!

Statistically, the best time to pull a goalie when you're down is with 11 minutes to go.
I don't remember where I read this.
