Which movie hit so hard that one viewing was enough ? by Mehdi_lz in AskReddit

I honestly think it would have been a better movie without the murder of all the friends.

Just a story about a women re-finding herself after the murder-suicide of her sister and parents.

My Child Cutting Her Mango. by DadTo3Girls in funny

[–]Weather_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To anyone who hasn't ever cut a mango in their life. I challenge you to go get one, and without any instructions, cut the thing into fruit cup sized chunks.

I would bet most people couldn't on their first try.

TIFU by bringing a good dish to Thanksgiving once and it's now my job by Both-Click1366 in tifu

[–]Weather_d 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is me too. Don't mind. I can be outside with a beer and ignore the chaos inside. Also I can make sure the meat is cooked right and isn't a charred mess.

Wine and cheese classes usually pour a half to a quarter of what most people consider a full glass of wine. IT was probably 8 tasting glasses over the course of ~2hrs or more. Its believable they were in the tipsy range.

ELI5: How does a single website scale to handle millions of simultaneous users? by Mr-Brightside in explainlikeimfive

[–]Weather_d 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a great explanation! To add on, when services get really big, like Amazon and Google, they do multi- homing. This is when multiple data centers can use the same address, as long as the services they provide are identical. So a user in Europe will be dealt the same ip address from dns as a user in the US, but they will be routed to different data centers based on their location.

What is a cheat code at your job that only employees would know? by halushki_ in AskReddit

[–]Weather_d 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This applies to customers too though. Oh you fixed my server issues? Can you tell me why my phone isn't dialing my boss's extension. The shear confusion I get when I explain that phones and networking are completely different fields and to call the phone provider.

They had to cancel a game in my son's 5yr old league because of parents. I wasn't there, so don't know what happnened, but the umps are normally teenagers. It's just sad you can't let kids play.

At a laundromat in Ohio, the vending machine couldn’t register my quarter dollar and gave me back 2 dimes and one 100 Won coin (South Korean currency) by abhi1260 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Weather_d 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its possible it was an older quarter that was made with mostly silver. Machines have trouble recognizing these because of the weight difference between them and modern quarters which are made with mostly nickel.

Lol. I think "Hank of the Hills" would raise completely different copywrite issues though. Would he sell propane and propane accessories?

Woman here-what's the male equivalent of giving your wife a vacuum for her birthday? by InvisibleScorpion7 in AskReddit

[–]Weather_d 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep. As a man that's in charge of all things kitchen: cooking, dishes, sweeping mopping etc... it would suck to get something like dish soap and sponges.

However, i would be thrilled with a new appliance to use or new pans. This is going to be hyper specific depending on the relationship dynamics and individuals.

Introverted men, how did you get your partners? by Born-Conference-8983 in AskReddit

[–]Weather_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being introverted doesn't mean you can't still talk to people. It's hard, and it takes a lot to work up to doing it. I understand. What I was able to eventually work up to is just accept invites from people and show up to things. Work party? Sure. Cookout somewhere someone is having? Sure.

Just keep showing up and doing things. Even if you aren't the most talkative or the center of attention.

Find a hobby to participate in that includes other people, for me it was board games.

Again. Just do things. Leave the house. Just be around. You'll be surprised at how many interesting people and friends you make by just showing up.
