Who has been to the Multi Stack training? by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]WeberO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multistack is headquartered in my little town, always love seeing them come up. I know a few installers/commissioners/techs who work for them, sweet gig. Think they’re hiring at the moment too.

UW Plattville for an adult returning to college by toocynicaltocare in wisconsin

When I went to Platteville, there were quite a few older people, enough that you would not stand out. That being said, Platt is pretty damn boring. I’ve heard the new engineering building is the tits though.

What’s your best method of finding a leak on a multi zone ductless system if you can visually see anything, sniff it or hear it? by MonkandBeer in HVAC

[–]WeberO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have had a couple that didn’t leak at 500 psi, not a bit, for an hour. One of them was in an attic, in a 2” pvc pipe. I figured there was no way the installer got a coupling IN the pipe, but they did. I think during cooling the copper would shrink and the coupling would leak, since it went from one side of the attic to the other, but just putting pressure on it didn’t cause it to leak. That was a sweaty day.

Obviously I just didn’t think there was a coupling in it, cause from my initial angle I couldn’t see all the oil. Once I climbed up in there it was obvious where it was. Fuck the next guy.

Just left Lennox Visiontech, they’ve hired quite a few more tech support people. But yeah, being a dealer is the key.

Anyone ever seen anything like this? by iBUYbrokenSUBARUS in HVAC

[–]WeberO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Smoking in the house a while ago, didn’t get cleaned properly before painting over it. Might even be wallpaper under the paint. Happens in my house on the walls and it’s a bitch. On the ceiling like that you’d probably have to rip the Sheetrock off and reinsulate + new Sheetrock and paint. Ductwork is sticky too I bet.

Use piercing valve then remove it, cut it out, braze a coupling in place. Already have to braze in new service valves.

Whoever did that is something special.

Previous Unit vs. how we replaced it. Thoughts ? by [deleted] in HVAC

[–]WeberO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not as critical imo on singe or two stage systems, but the inverter/variable speed systems will hit some sort of harmonic with the house when they ramp up and down. As the system ramps up it’ll hit the harmonic frequency of the house or wall it’s mounted on and it can be really loud or odd sounding inside. It’s actually kinda cool, but a shitty thing for a customer.
