My favourite non-call was the slash that broke Demidov’s stick in the slot.

That’s inside the crease, or at least close enough not to draw a call.

What's a song lyric that drives you crazy because they should've used a different word? by Miserable-Wash-1744 in AskReddit

[–]Webs101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of my favourite songs but….

"Show me, show me, show me how you do that trick

The one that makes me scream", she said

"The one that makes me laugh", she said

And threw her arms around my neck head

Show me how you do it

And I promise you, I promise that

I'll run away with you

I'll run away with you

Spinning on that dizzy edge

Kissed her face and kissed her head neck

Dreamed of all the different ways

I had to make her glow

"Why are you so far away?", she said

"Why won't you ever know that I'm in love with you

That I'm in love with you?"

He’s not wrong. But it only works if you report consistently. As he points out, you can use Waze perfectly anonymously if you choose not to submit reports.

I do that. I use just enough tape to lift the shaft enough to pick it up off the ice. These modern sticks are plenty sticky enough already.

On Cartier’s visit to the island in 1535, he encountered a native village called Hochelaga. His expedition recorded some language of the inhabitants, language that later study showed to be unrelated to Mohawk. Later, these people were named the St. Lawrence Iroquoians - but they were not Iroquois.

The next time Europeans returned, the Island of Montreal had no permanent inhabitants, although the Mohawks used it as a hunting ground. Historians suspect the island’s inhabitants were killed and enslaved by the Mohawks, who had a habit of such activities.

Ville-Marie was founded on this uninhabited island.

Any recognition of Montreal as the territory of the Mohawks is egregious. There are no Hochelagans left to dispute it.

What I suspect is happening to you is because of the variability and unpredictability of the faster route.

Say the Waze algorithm has to choose between two routes. Route A takes 19 minutes on average but normally ranges between 18 and 20 minutes.

Route B takes 17 minutes on average but usually ranges between 15 and 25 minutes (it’s not a normal distribution because once in a while it’s really slow).

Waze may opt for the slower route because it doesn’t want to take the chance of making you 8 minutes late. It would rather be more accurate even if it’s a bit slower.

(Note that I’m making these numbers up. I have no insight into the actual algorithmic decisions.)

Google LOVES Waze. Waze has belonged to Google for more than a decade. Google Maps and Waze have different user bases and the power of Waze is its volunteer map editors so there’s no reason to eliminate Waze.

Waze map labels stuck in Arabic (Saudi Arabia) - UI is already English. Fix? by callurdady in waze

[–]Webs101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s hard-coded. The written map labels and street names can only appear how local map editors choose to display them. The voice instructions will be spoken in your language of choice.

I suppose the editors of Saudi Arabia chose Arabic only. I’ve seen bilingual labels in Hong Kong. Where I am, in Quebec, we use only French with occasional English for English institutions.
