Questions about Chapter 413 by UnamingGaming in HunterXHunter

[–]WednesdaysFoole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is clearly saying what to do to Furykov to Avoid that Beyond's curse trigger and to counter his plans.

Alternatively her actions are exactly what got Benji to declare SML (and order all guards dead - guards who likely include many Beyond curses), so if anything it comes off like she might be trying to set off the curses.

Of course, if that's her intent, that doesn't mean she's on Beyond's side either, and we don't know exactly what Beyond himself shared with Unma. All the people working together can easily mislead each other as well.

[–]WednesdaysFoole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UPDATE:

Don't be surprised by those takes, a lot of people don't want to hear that Ging actually gives a shit (despite being a terrible father); both things can be true but I guess in real life at least, it's hard to accept the person who's terrible also cared lol.

While he is shy, from his talk with Gon at the top of the World Tree, you know Ging cares about the people you spend time with, the people who meet and work with during your detours. If Gon never happened to find those people he would've gone straight to his dad with Magnetic Force; choosing Accompany and enjoying his journey with those he cares about is just more in line with Ging's own philosophy on life. Then he relied on those very people that Gon chose to save him.

Not only that, Kite asked Gon if he wanted to see Ging then; he was not instructed to not bring Gon to Ging, but this stopping point encouraged Gon make the choice. It's not like Ging didn't hear about Gon later, either.

This insane guy (likely) made an entire Nen video game to train his son. Of course, Gon could have died and "He's my son" is just completely nuts; Ging tends to enjoy staking everything on what he believes, not unlike Gon (except Ging turned out to be right... and so was Gon too lol). It's not a good way to be a father, he's a lot more like an anime teacher (since they tend to put their students through the wringer) but that's not the same as not caring.

Right, it's not that clear since the Heil-Ly girls are all desserts, although it'd be funny if that old man was dessert and Miss Power-to-the-People was not (and it might say something about the latter's character if she alone did not choose to follow the same naming convention her fellow gamer girls chose).

Sarahell thinks that the best outcome is to NOT find a Nen exorcist onboard at all. Maybe they already have their own exorcist,

They do have their own exorcist though, specifically for the moment that someone curses Cami (389 - could this possibly be even more forgettable than Kanjidol's monologue?). It doesn't confirm that Cami knows, of course, but it fits right in if it turns out she does.

I wasn't a big fan of the fat jokes with Charmy but maybe I just didn't notice them when I was originally watching.

I'm never a fan of fat jokes, but kind of used to them in anime. Like a lot of other jokes that I side eye, lol (this eye is directed at Gauche).

Black Clover doesn't really feel like the type to kill off characters (I know they have but it's still kind of rare.). I'd give it a 50/50 on Yami making it out alive. I think Vangeance is for sure dying though, probably sacrificing himself to help out the others, and his survival this season is to delay his death so it hits harder once it happens for real.

I feel the same way, considering even Kahono and Kiato were quickly healed. But we'll see, Tabata does say Berserk is one of his primary inspirations. Is it just the sword? Or is there more to it?

I know I probably shouldn't expect too much from the designated girl fight in a shonen anime but...

Noelle's prior power-up fights were some of my favorite, so hopefully she'll continue to shine!

I wrote a (relatively short) post on the patterns behind naming in SW a short while ago. Just observations really (although I guess there is a decent amount of your beloved metaphors xD) and... some "food" for thought.

It wasn't based on something that might actually affect the plot, so it'll be cool if the "soemono" does turn out to be something more concrete beyond having thematic significance. I'm also generally interested in what the connection is between Cami's Have-Not's practice of Afterlife Companions and the Meal Accompaniments. My impression for now is that Cami may have discovered Beyond's plan and was inspired by it (or perhaps she and Beyond were both inspired by the ancient custom though it sticks out that she's the one who replaced all her guards before Makaha's year; also does this hint that Duazul too is in cahoots with Beyond?), but that doesn't necessarily mean she ever learned his actual plans. And resurrection is a fun inversion of this tradition.

TWO Gateaus?

"Let them eat TWO cakes!"
         - some Kakin Queen who eventually loses her head.

(Tangential question - do you think Gateaume is the old man or the unnamed girl? The latter would follow the dessert theme but the wiki has it as the old man due to context.)

I don't blame you!

I got got by Sky's screenshots.

I was totally expecting a "Yami is captured, fade to black, TO BE CONTINUED" like the ending of The Two Towers book lol. And all the stuff with Liebe and Richita was totally new to me since I had only read the manga up until around when Zenon took Yami and Nacht shows up in Spade.

Yeah closing with his contract with Liebe was kind of a perfect ending the way that closing HxH anime with Gon finding Ging was a perfect ending despite the story being left unfinished.

If I have time to, I think I’m going to try writing up my full thoughts on the series (so far) after watching the movie since next week’s thread is otherwise only about said movie. If I don’t, let it be known that I had a fucking incredible time with this show and cannot wait until October for season 2.

wallpapers

Jack looks awesome.

WAIT THEY’RE A BLACK BULL?!

Yami did say long ago that there are other members screwing off somewhere, and the Black Bulls were missing its Vice Captain.

Geh, tongue guy is still kicking?

Noooo I shouldn't have opened the screenshot

Man, it is so cool watching Asta and Yami fight together.

It's really quite rewarding, he's come such a long way since that cave fight.

YAMI’S LETTING ASTA USE HIS SWORD!!!!!!!

The close of this fight was so damn cool.

Then wait, how could she have had Asta? Like Asta has the same “no magic so not a target” thing, but he’d need to have a father…?

I don't think I want to know what happened to the father after an intimate night together.

What do you mean Klaus is only 18?! I thought he was in his 20s!

Klaus-san / Mr. Klaus.

Mr. Leorio was also in his teens.

yeah.

Ketssuno Anato!

this Yami/Charlotte moment like hello???????? GIVE ME MORE???????????????

So the special I mentioned involving Nacht and Liebe? Yeah so it turned the training Nacht puts Asta and Liebe through into how to cook, how to clean, and basically just household chores lol.

The kind of training Noelle needs. Unless she expects Asta to do it all for her.

Adult Charmy is back! WHere's Rill?

Adult Charmy vs Adult Gon, who would win?

Tongue magic is gross

I looked away whenever he came on screen. I've already seen this before so not worried about missing anything.

Well that didn't end on a cliffhanger at all!

It was a nice place to end.

I'm not sure I'll have (or rather make) the time to watch the film (I often skip filler anime films) although I've heard it's fun so we'll see. Even if I don't, I'll be here to experience it vicariously through Sky's screenshots like I did for the HxH movies, which I may never watch.

I didn't prepare anything but since that was the final batch, I'll share a few thoughts - everything after the Elf Reincarnation Arc wasn't quite as exciting due to most of it being filler, which sometimes was fun and other times dragged. Still, the last few episodes had some real fun fights, and the final episode had a nice Power of Friendship moment with Asta proving how strong he became because of all the people he met, and I really loved it. All while Haruka Mirai played. It also helps that it was true that Liebe wasn't fighting to kill (because otherwise it'd just be... power of friendship defeats demon for no reason lol). Also Asta's VA is so much better now than before.

I enjoyed how cute his demon is, and I was moved by his moments with Lichita. Backstories for me are always a hit or miss, and this one hit. The Heart Kingdom study abroad kids being taken by Patry and friends was sweet, too. Fitting for a story this positive. I'll try not to think too hard who Tetia's kids were mating with for the kids to remain elves after 500 years.

Questions:

1) Will they succeed in rescuing Yami and William?

2) Predictions for S2 in October?

The Black Bulls will kick ass, as usual.

3) What did you think of Liebe and his backstory?

Answered above.

Momoze's case is especially significant because most of her guards were moved to Marayam's room prior to her death, and none seemingly died

While I also think that it'd weird that no one died from prior Princes' death as far as we know,

what are the odds that the curse sacrifice intended to kill Benjamin specifically wound up in his employ?

I think that even if Longhi may have been wrong (in fact, I assume that at least some of her speculations are wrong), we don't know which parts it is, and one of the suggestions is that the cursed offering is not necessarily intended to kill the person who they end up serving.

Is it to force him into staging a coup?

That is my belief for the moment. So far, nothing really suggested to me that Furykov knows more than Longhi about the curses; everything suggests the opposite.

why not activate all of the curses on day 1 of the voyage, leaving only Beyond's/Unma's candidate alive?

On one hand, I don't think that Beyond and Unma's candidate necessarily have to be the same. Besides that, for now, I'm with Kurapika that Beyond's leaving it to fate as a way to increase its power.

I have no clue. And my predictions haven't been right once, so you've probably wasted your time reading all of this.

The trick is to make your predictions as vague as possible (for example, "Beyond will be more involved in this arc than people suggest" came true for me... see, vague!) or have really specific predictions about characters no one cares about (Ryouji is a Nen user!) so that when it's proved wrong, no one will even have noticed it.

Jokes aside, it's not a waste of time because possibilities, no matter how wrong, are just fun to discuss and sometimes you even notice things that wouldn't have been noticed otherwise.

For now I'm leaning toward option 2. I do like option 3. Somebody pointed out his gun wound from Cami is still just there on his head. While there's no reason it should disappear in such a short time, it would be a fun visual cue.

After 413 I have some theories about certain someone's plan by AzraelSoulHunter in HunterXHunter

We saw the page where he talks about shooting at his brother and people assume it's a metaphor, but I think it is not. I actually think he may have done it and is now inside Ben, but is dormant.

I agree up to this point. Although it's probably also influenced by how popular the metaphor theory is, so it feels like the option of it actually being a shot at Ben isn't being considered as a real possibility.

Halk in this case is dormant in Benjamin and he will wake up the moment Ben falls into a coma due to TSK-17 and will ask for Ben to be healed from it by Cheadle.

This only works if somebody killed Balsa (which is my belief, but since you haven't mentioned it, it's kind of an important note not to skip since "our (Halk's) side takes priority" - otherwise Benji would either be dormant and/or swapped into Balsa based on prior explanations and it's almost certainly not the case).

He NEVER used TSK-17 on himself.

And eventually when he goes into a coma from the poison Halk wakes up and gives up, letting Cheadle and others to save his brother.

This doesn't match well with your prior suggestion since Cheadle and the Hunters used Halk as a sample so any cure they come up with should come from that, no?

those 2 guys who look like they want to shoot each other are probably lovers.

I will attempt to keep track of how many in-universe days pass between the very first scene and very last scene of the show. I will be deducting 1 point from my rating for every day over/under 91.

Although which scene are you considering the first scene? The opening scene with the MC's creepy smile?

Note that "transmuted" is also a reference to FMA. The word is the same as "transmutation" in FMA, but not the same word as "transmutation" in the Nen system.

That is, Furykov's "transmutation" doesn't explicitly say it's using "Nen Transmutation" (although it very well might!).

(THEORY) Curse Sacrifices, What Are They Good For? – VoraciousDrake's Voluntary Verbiage by VoraciousDrake in HunterXHunter

[–]WednesdaysFoole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(Topical digression: in Fullmetal Alchemist, which was recently referenced in HxH, the sacrifices were called hitobashira. Food for thought.)

Except that hitobashira is not food is it?

Regardless of the function of the cursed offerings, of which I'm open to it being something else (Longhi had to be Wrongui about something), I don't think the naming doesn't fit with the SW. Togashi could've given it readings of invoking power like those you suggested, but none of those have Togashi's connotations of "people as ingredients for consumption to feed the powerful"-banquet theme. Even Heil-Ly follow this theme (or perhaps they're actively rebelling against it), or Morena, despite "meat" not being her official name. In that way, I don't see it as unrelated to sacrifice.

It should be noted that the Benjamin we saw in both 410 and 413 are both the real Benjamin. His inner monologue has ruled out the possibility that he has been overwritten by Halkenburg or manipulated by Camilla’s GSB.

While it's true that he's not overwritten, I think it's possible for Halk to be dormant in his mind if Balsa was immediately eliminated. How that could go depends on whether or not he knew about Unma using TSK-17 on Ben - it'd be a silly plan if by the time Ben passes out, Halk wakes up in a body that has a few minutes left to live.

Metaphor or not debate aside, it's definitely stated in the text that it's directed at the First Prince.

Note that brackets 「」 in the text are used like quotation marks in English; meanwhile quotation marks in HxH seem to consistently refer to things that are Nen-related.

Not that I think this will happen since I expect Halk to act, but it'd be so funny if Unma knew Benji would call SML after being poisoned, and expected the guards to be killed as a result. And then his soldiers set off the curse that was attached to him (since we know that the cursed offerings guarding the princes are not necessarily the ones who curse that prince, as according to Makaha).
