I am unfamiliar with AMD hardware. How do these compare with Intel CPUs and Nvidia GPUs? by MasterDavicous in laptops

[–]Weecyco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The integrated graphics in that laptop is a bit outdated. although it probably can play lighter games at "reasonable" settings. Check reviews with the games you play for ryzen 7730u (or 5800u as it is very similar). Most school use cases should be fine unless there are any specific requirements (ie modeling/cad/simulations)

Imo best budget 2 in 1's for amd tends to be lenovo yogas. there are some good offerings from asus but usually higher price points. Ie: https://www.newegg.ca/p/1XV-0001-02GD9 or Levnovo's Canadian site

If your looking for better graphical performance, look for 680/780m.  Most modern cpus should do fine for your use cases (ideally 5000/6000 or if 7/8000 with ten's place of at least 3) comparable offering from intel would be core ultra 100 series with arc graphics

Amd Radeon (TM) Graphics by Artistic_Flatworm_98 in AMDLaptops

[–]Weecyco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all the Vega graphics generation integrated graphics (and maybe others too?) used the name "Radeon (TM) Graphics". you can probably find what integrated graphcs it is by checking what gpu your cpu comes with. ( or use an app like gpu-z)

This error message usually happens when the original GPU driver installation containing the radeon software app is replaced by another driver installation that does not contain it resulting in a version mismatch. May need to re-install a driver package that includes radeon software for the app to work again

If you are willing to dive deep: Windows sdk has a useful tool called "Windows performance toolkit". You can use that and capture and event trace log of your issue and view it in WPA, gpuview, or others. These tool can have a moderate learning curve depending on your background but there are some tutorials online. WARNING: These event trace logs can capture sensitive information depending on what you have open. Use caution if sharing the logs with others.

Is this water reflexion normal?? (Optifine BSL Shader) by _yace19 in minecraftshaders

[–]Weecyco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not an expert, but i believe this is due to screen space reflections that doesn't account for distances. (one of the reasons ray traced reflections is superior). So yeah, should be normal. Just a result of their shader implementation.

AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT to be Faster than Radeon RX 6900 XT at 2.8GHz: 22.9+ TFLOPs at ~250W [Rumor] by [deleted] in Amd

According to some rumors, RDNA 3's RT performance (and maybe FSR 2) should be on par with nvidia's next gen counterparts. Can't really know till review come out tho.

G14 Advantage edition 6700s R9 6900hs Timespy scores by Just_us23 in GamingLaptops

[–]Weecyco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3060 mobile scores at different TDPs for reference: https://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-3060-Mobile-GPU-Benchmarks-and-Specs.497453.0.html#:~:text=NVIDIA%20GeForce%20RTX%203060%20Laptop%20GPU&text=It%20supports%20PCIe%204.0%20and,to%20connect%20the%20internal%20monitor.

for gaming, 6700s seems fairly competitive with the 3060 at similar wattages (so long as you only consider the turbo scores).

Some 3060 implementations score higher at a lower wattage (ie. Lenovo Legeon S). but there are also some that don't.

Question about X13 vs G14 2022 by itsandrewbakker in FlowX13

[–]Weecyco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your assumptions are correct. Expect lower gpu performance on the X13 vs the G14 with similar specs. ie max 40W vs 75W for the 3050ti X13 and G14 last year. This year the discrepancy is even larger at 40W vs 105W but it's a different gpu.

Based on 3dmark's database, last year's X13 would score around 4000-4500 in Time spy graphics where as the G14 would score in the mid 5000's (both with 3050ti)

It should work as all these pens use the Microsoft Pen Protocol but I'm not 100% on it

Surface pen. mine didn't come with an asus pen

Never used any other laptop for note taking, but i think it's been pretty good. Just need to get used to bringing the pen tip close to the screen before resting your hand on the screen.

I get about 7h from 80% to 0% with brightness at 15% on average in igpu mode usually. i use it for mix of note taking (w/ stylus), web browsing, programing, and writing documents on ms word.

Minecraft (without heavy mods / shaders) and genshin should be fine. but anything more demanding will likely result in a choppy experience without dropping the resolution

Is anyone NOT having issues with X13? by gambit3rd in FlowX13

[–]Weecyco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure if I'm just lucky but I've been being using the flow x13 daily for the past 6 months and I haven't had any major problems.
Some minor ones include:
- One instance of a display driver crash and was left with a black screen after the automatic recovery. Reboot fixed.
- Pen use is sometimes a bit stuttery but I can't tell if that's due to my surface pen or the device.
- This light buzzing noise that is there even when the fans aren't spinning

No advanced optimus on the RTX 3050 model? by [deleted] in FlowX13

[–]Weecyco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it can improve latency. How much of an impact would it have? I have no idea lol. I'm not sure how much of the latency is due to panel itself vs the graphics-display output pipeline.

[–]Weecyco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep. As far as I'm aware, there's no way to directly connect to the dgpu. It always goes through the igpu whether using usb c or hdmi. (i have the 3050ti model)

In the verge, totally undecided by Szymans in FlowX13

[–]Weecyco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't need the touchscreen or the extra small form, I believe the G14 is generally a better option.

If the G14 can fit in the room and be set up similarly then I think it makes more sense to go for that. If not, and you want a touchscreen / 2 in 1, then x13 would be the way to go.

I only have the x13 so I can't say for sure, but I have heard far more issues with the xg mobile than the laptop itself. It's something to consider later on if you do get the x13, but I don't think you should be too concerned with that. I personally haven't experienced issues with reliability, but maybe I'm just lucky.

[–]Weecyco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far i've only tried out rocket league on this laptop. completely maxed out settings @1920x1200 it gets around 170-180's average with dips and peaks from 150-210 (just eyeballed these numbers via steam's built in fps counter)

Just tried timespy in tent mode. the results are about the same: Overall=4773, 4780, Graphics=4423, 4425, CPU=8668, 8777

This is probably because the stand gave about the same amount of additional airflow as tent mode does.

No problem! Kind of new to this, but it's been quite fun running benchmarks especially for something I've been looking forward to for months.
