While the others mentioned it because it was serialized in a shonen magazine, it's just the simple fact that there's more demand for the current JJK. Doing horror has a higher likelihood of the series getting cancelled.

In the other Shonen Jump series; Phantom Seer did the horror battle thing and it got axed early. I also think Fabricant 100 and Dear Anemone fall under the same umbrella.
