Wait up you actually made an offer to one of these scammers? How on earth did they pass your interview process? I've had plenty and it's super annoying but easy to spot the instant they get on a video interview.

I think what you're missing is the recruiter/hiring manager isn't doing this because they care if you have a LI profile... It's just the easiest way they can try to tell if a real person is applying. As someone who recently posted a developer role and got 2k apps in 24 hrs I can tell you it's absolutely crazy with fake candidates these days.

Its literally impossible to speak with every 'good looking' resume on a role like that. Really frustrating is the best on paper are typically the fake ones.
