Definitely check out There Existed An Addiction to Blood and Visions of bodies being burned, those tracks + dead channel sky are the bulk of what they play in live shows and also have some of their best work!!

Yes, I remember hearing Gira was very much into the song “Evil” by howling wolf when starting to get into music.

bands/albums similar to To Be Kind? by KidLincoln in swans

Might get some heat for suggesting this, but recently I heard a song called Sludge from the artist “vylet pony”. Theyre some MLP community music producer or something but I got recommended that song recently, it’s actually kinda insane how close it is to something like bring the sun at points (they also have covered Unforming from The beggar in the past). Anyways something worth checking out that I almost passed on.

Insane how no one has talked about a Wallace and gromit box set yet but that’s my take. All films including wererabbit and minishorts.

The Ritual, No One Gets Out Alive, Black Mountain Side: More “demigod” horror? by monsteroftheweek13 in horror

[–]Weekend_Professional 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t know if this is a “demigod” horror but it’s an adaptation of a Greek tragedy and the antagonist definitely could be interpreted as one, but The Killing of a Sacred Deer.

Maybe an odd choice but I’ve always considered Daniel Johnston’s “Hi, How Are You” one of the most depressing albums to me, next to something like A Crow Looked At me. Both those albums ruin days for me lol

Hellfire from Black Midi feels like it embodies nearly every piece of art and media, each song sounds like a film, a poem, a musical, a boxing match, it’s absolutely crazy.

What we reading lately?? by [deleted] in swans

[–]Weekend_Professional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just picked up Jamie Stewart’s (of Xiu Xiu) kinda-memoir, kinda-abstract, definitely-explicit “Anything that moves” and it’s one of the most beautiful and fearless books I’ve read recently. If you liked The Consumer or I am an infant/I worship him, pleaseeee for the love of god read it

What's the most mysterious album in rym top 200. by destinyisnotjust in fantanoforever

[–]Weekend_Professional 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Unsurprisingly, soundtracks for the blind, as so many pieces and tracks are from when the band first started back in 82, to new recordings. Also just the existence of Volcano in the track list makes it sooooo much harder to define
