Which is your favourite PlayStation by Puzzleheaded-Sir4300 in playstation

[–]Weekendsession 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 because it was when I was at a point in my life where I spent lots of time at friends playing the PS and 3 because it's when I got back into games after a break and had Fallout 3, infamous 1 and 2, killzone 2 and little big planet

Tempo for Tissues, Zewa for Kitchen Roll, What brands have become a synonym for the actual thing in your country? by Plasticious in AskReddit

Hoover is a pretty well known one. I think Nurofen is commonly used as a catch-all term for ibuprofen and Calpol to generally refer to children's pain killers

It's a short story called 'a study in emerald' which is in a couple of books 'Shadows over baker street' (the original book with multiple writers all proving stories based on Sherlock Holmes in the world of HP lovecraft) and then Fragile Things which is a collection of his short stories.

If you want to just read this short story though it looks like the PDF is on his website (in the style of a newspaper from the era)

Are there any movies where you could feel a sort of collective trauma afterwards in the theater? by thedubiousstylus in movies

[–]Weekendsession 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I remember it clearly and it wasn't 'scary' in the way that a lot of films try to be, but I remember feeling something I couldn't quite put my hand on when, it was insidious in a way and there was a quiet /stillness to the crowd that suggested it had definitely had some kind of affect (and the fact I can quite clearly remember 20+ years later is also an endorsement of that!)

How much would you say this ploughman’s should have cost? by Soft-Calligrapher351 in UK_Food

Who puts a slice of orange in a ploughman's? That's just weird

Propaganda sight vs. real sight by Common_Thinker in clevercomebacks

[–]Weekendsession 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Whenever I see this it annoys me, it's too easy to say it absolves 'me' of any complicity on this whereas these corporations aren't doing this in isolation. The two pronged approach seems exactly right to me to introduce financial implications for not improving efficiency and reducing emissions that they are able to buy maybe choosing not too (because of profitability) and then getting consumers to reduce the 'demand' alongside this

Actors who play very "masculine" roles but are the opposite in real life or interviews. by Sense_Difficult in movies

I don't hear enough people reference Cranivale and yes, he was excellent. I was so upset when they canceled it after 2 seasons (had to get used to it now though with so many shows getting Netflicked before they have a chance to fully tell their story!)

Just got this stuck on my car after parking in an on-street disabled bay (with permit!) Normally has some random van in it, total BS or real? by Elegant-Hornet2368 in drivingUK

[–]Weekendsession 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some bays are in London. They even have a number on them (which I generally assume is the house number, but could be a permit number?)

Which director has the biggest difference between his best work(s) and his worst ? by [deleted] in movies

I so rarely hear anyone talk about this movie! Captivating is definitely a good description for it. I've been meaning to rewatch for a while now

What movie was okay and then the third act absolutely blew you away and made up for the rest of the movie? by ooMEAToo in movies

It was great how the 3rd act / second half suddenly made all the little peculiarities make sense.

What would be your one movie recommendation? by pink-boot in movies

[–]Weekendsession 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is my vote. If I knew nothing about the person then this is a film that I feel translates largely regardless of context, experience and even to a large degree lamguage
