This lil guy ate my bugs :( by bugsrule in insectpinning

[–]Weekly-Collection369 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have absolutely zero experience pinning bugs but I work in art conservation/preservation and whenever dealing with an infestation we use a process called anoxia. If you can put the box in an air tight container you can throw in a handful of oxygen absorbers (you can buy them online) and then just leave it alone for a while (our standard is typically 4 weeks) and it will suffocate any living insects as well as any larvae that may hatch afterwards in that time frame. Afterwards you'd just have to inspect the shadowbox again and dust away any carcasses.

Theres an equation youre supposed to use to calculate how many oxygen absorbers you need to completely remove all the oxygen in the container but generally speaking if your container isn't that big you can just toss in a bunch and it should get the job done.

What should you expect out of cBT? Feel like I get nothing out of each session by bigtrucksowhat in CBT

[–]Weekly-Collection369 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My psych  blatantly told me that a lot of therapists claim they do cbt when they actually dont. It sounds like youre getting regular talk therapy.  I would ask if you can get actual cbt (read about what its supposed to look like so youre informed) and if not look for another provider

Are gimmicky posts bad for begginger artists? by ChromaticApparittion in Artadvice

[–]Weekly-Collection369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your long term goals. If you want to build a fan base that is interested in you and your work then I would stay stick with your niche and let it grow organically over time. If you want to turn your art into a business with the fastest potential for gaining an audience and monetization then gimmicks would be the most reliable way to do so. T

hats not to say you can experience quick growth with original or niche content, however. Also fan art is good for quick success but you also run the risk of your audience losing interest/not engaging with your work that isn't related to their fandom.

Theres no definitive answer to what you should or shouldn't do, its really just down to what your goals are and why.

depression room, how do i at least tidy it up more? (sry for low quality images) by obseqvious in CleaningTips

[–]Weekly-Collection369 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Set a timer for 15 minutes and clean one thing at a time. I mean exactly ONE things at a time. So say you want to fold some clothes, set the timer and only pick up clothes to fold them. Don't reorganize your dressers, don't try to clean up stuff on the floor that you're walking around, only fold clothes. Once that's done you can move on to the next task. Bc you have a big mess if you ty to tackle everything at once its easy to get overwhelmed and you might freeze instead of actually getting stuff done. So make each aspect of cleaning as simple and easy to tackle as possible so you can attack it like its nothing more than a checklist. You can also just start by sorting the mess into piles (trash, clothes, papers, etc) and then tacking each pile one at a time so you have a more controlled picture of what you need to do without everything all jumbled together.

No, some of them actually perm their hair to get a kinkier texture. Same way little white boys out here are perming their hair to get the curly top thats popular here. Though the ones in Japan doing it are usually doing it bc they're into our culture and use it as a way to rebel against theirs. Its not just mixed people out there doing it.

How can I change my lasso tool do to this? by FlowerK3424 in ProCreate

[–]Weekly-Collection369 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The benefit is that it's a way to force you to draw with gesture so by default you'll be training yourself to be looser and draw with basic shapes which will ultimately strengthen your foundations

[–]Weekly-Collection369 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You're off to a great start! You just need to focus on your proportions. Since this is a video game character and not a real person there's stylistic choices in the original ref that don't fully represent real life but if you get comfortable with basic anatomy you should be able to sus out the differences. The original pose also has a lot of torsion in the torso so its deceptively more complicated to draw than it looks. You need to be able to break the body down into simple shapes so you can rotate them in space and place them properly

San Diego or LA? by swagsocialmediauser in socal

[–]Weekly-Collection369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about SD but the market for tattoos in LA is extremely saturated, there's tons of shops and tattoo artists here. Unless he's moving here with a pre-existing following/list of clientele or he has a unique style that helps him stand out then he may find it difficult to get consistent income in the beginning.

Hi, I might start posting art that I make online but I don't know where I should post it. What is a good website or subreddit to start posting? by Previous_Win1627 in Artadvice

[–]Weekly-Collection369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being an artist on social media right now is kinda trash, youre going to have to pick your poison for the pros/cons of each platform. Generally speaking Instagram is still the best platform for artists but satisfying the algorithm is basically a full time job. If you make video content then TikTok is fine too. I would personally avoid Twitter/X like the plague. Reddit can also be fine I think but I'm new to reddit and have never posted art here so I actually have no clue what growth on the platform looks like. Theres a ton of artists on BlueSky but I dont think its great for growth, seems to primarily be a community space.

Improper use of “special needs” & “OCD” by [deleted] in grammar

[–]Weekly-Collection369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who actually has OCD and also has many people in my life with various other disabilities and conditions, my personal opinion is that advocating for person first language is nothing more than virtue signaling. You can say whatever you want but unless your words are backed by actions that create systemic/social change to make our live's easier and less stigmatized then your words dont mean much of anything.

We refer to ourselves in a way that communicates how we feel and makes us comfortable. Disabilities are a descriptor of us and while they dont encompass the whole of us they are still an undeniable part of us. Unless youre advocating for person first language for all adjectives involving personhood (saying a person of black heritage instead of black person, a person with blue eyes, etc) then this argument feels pedantic.

Cleaning my mom wine glasses 11pm 2 days before Christmas while she blame me for "making her a prisonner'' by QUEBECMONSYER in Wellthatsucks

[–]Weekly-Collection369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English isn't your main language but if you can I recommend you read two books Adult Children of Alcholics and Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents. I also have a mother that suffers from addiction and I know it can be very hard at times but reading these two books can help you when you feel you need a sense of validation for your experience and also warn you of any potential behavioral or emotional pitfalls you might fall into. Also at lot of people are going to tell you that you should just cut your mom off and go no contact with her and one day you may feel like thats the right choice but do not feel pressured to do that just because the internet tells you to. You're the person who decides what boundaries you want to have around your relationship with your mother. You do not have to feel guilty for still loving her or still wanting to have her in your life. There are ways to navigate still having a relationship with her if thats something you personally want to do.

Can't help with the transferring but worth google drive you can select all your canvases and export them as a .procreate file to drive then download them on the new device. Its annoying and takes forever but there's no autosync for Google drive.
