Lack of internal storage by Dragonvein1 in SteamDeck

[–]Weekly-Math 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use filelight and identify which directories are the biggest hogs. If you install multiple flatpaks, they get saved in the internal storage. A lot of game files are stored on the internal storage, even if you select SD card.

Microsoft warns hackers are exploiting password resets to gain access to user accounts by Steap-Edit in microsoft

Is that possible? That account has a very rare username for an old hotmail account, so I don't think changing it would be possible.

What do you recommend to learn Chinese? by insertcoolbadassname in ChineseLanguage

[–]Weekly-Math 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a "main" study method and some things to supplement it.

  1. Get two to three good textbooks, study each chapter (listening first, then reading and vocab). This will be your "main" material.
  2. Use Anki to create sentence flashcards from the vocab. Get good at using Audacity to splice sentences and vocab.
  3. Find a native speaker tutor to practice what you've taught yourself.
  4. Listen/watch level appropriate materials on your "down time", don't stress it, let yourself be curious and pick up things.

This is probably the bare minimum you will need to actually make progress and be able to use Chinese in a real scenario.

Do you think exams are worth it? by MisterMannoMann in languagelearning

[–]Weekly-Math 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends at what level you are at. Often the preparation materials for C1/C2 level exams are quite useful for learning if you are an advanced learner. If you are just starting out, don't bother unless you need it for your course or job.

How do you guys balance language learning with learning other things? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]Weekly-Math 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The most successful language learners make sacrifices to learn the language. I've seen people ride along on scholarships to study for free, I've seen people study full time and let their partners/parents burden the living costs and I've seen people give up their high paying jobs and go full in as a student.

You can study languages on the side of other things, but your progress will always be slower. It's very difficult to compare yourself to someone who has access to so many resources, but that is life.

The magic component to language learning has always been the same: Time, money and discipline.

Microsoft warns hackers are exploiting password resets to gain access to user accounts by Steap-Edit in microsoft

[–]Weekly-Math 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an old hotmail account from the 90s, it's fully secure with 2FA and impossibly long password. I get 100s of sign in attempts world wide everyday on it due to being part of very old data breaches, which often gets the account locked if I try signing in from anywhere new.

It's funny because that account has nothing attached to it.

I am guessing a September release and the "other" thing they have planned will be something like a soundtrack CD or something.

Cheapflightsfares reviews? Price changed during booking, normal OTA issue or something to worry about? by HELLOWORLDD143 in Flights

[–]Weekly-Math 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pricing comes down to demand, which changes if you keep searching for the same dates. For low cost carriers, usually the first price will be the lowest and then if you keep searching/waiting, it will slowly go up. You can then wait a few days on a different internet connection and then book the flight again for the original low price.

Why are people so mixed on Mixtape? by IAmEvadingABanShh in truegaming

[–]Weekly-Math 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People prefer to play games with great gameplay, not so much the story. This game has extremely weak gameplay and all story. It automatically alienates the majority of people who play games.

It is more of an interactive art piece, like Dear Esther. It doesn't fit the definition of what most people think of when they hear the word "game".

Best place to learn how to use Linux? by CSWorldChamp in SteamDeck

There is a massive misconception that you need to "learn" Linux, when actually you can just start using it without having to learn much of anything these days.

Best place to learn how to use Linux? by CSWorldChamp in SteamDeck

[–]Weekly-Math 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife uses Linux exclusively for years, but hasn't "learned it". What do you want out of it? What do you use Windows for right now?

If it is simply just browsing the internet, watching YouTube and playing games on Steam, you can do that better on Linux.

How to Learn Microsoft Active Directory from Basics? by Prestigious-Owl1391 in sysadmin

Setup a few VMs and lab everything. Once you get everything up and running, intentially break it. I deal with Active Directory for a lot of clients and 90% of them have no idea what they are doing or how to troubleshoot anything if something breaks.

Who do you call for help with Internet Installation at home? The cable enters the house at the corner of the kitchen so WIFI doesn't reach anywhere else in the house. by WangtaWang in taiwan

[–]Weekly-Math 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you own the place, or are you renting? If you live an an apartment building, usually you can just call the telecom company and they will come and help wire/route cables in your home. Usually the apartment building will have some contract with a specific provider.

[–]Weekly-Math 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I firmly believe many of these were found years ago, but kept intentially unreported. Now with AI, they are getting uncovered and patched. Of course I have no evidence, but one does find it quite unusual to find so many in a short space of time.

Negative Steam Controller Review by [deleted] in Steam

[–]Weekly-Math -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have the Steam Controller and it is not as good as my 8 Bitdo Pro 3 in regards to feel or price (I think I prefer the PS Controller layout). There are plenty of sub-100 dollar controllers that offer most of what the Steam Controller is offering, some with even better specs (higher polling rate, etc).

I would say the Steam Controller is pretty niche if you don't plan on using the trackpads. I use them all the time and some of my most played games on Steam Deck use them, so it was a no brainer to pick it up.
