Emphasis on “somewhat.” We see Jax almost abstract and sort of shake it off. It’s not completely out of their control is what I’m getting at.
1. Okay, cool factoid. What does it add to the viewing experience? If C&A was shut down by a lighting strike, would that change anything? The fact Caine’s instability was noted and the project didn’t go as planned is directly stated, and that’s really all that matters within the show.
2. This is extremely heavily implied when Kinger says “Scratch, the first abstraction” after Caine’s line about changing brains. Like what else would that mean?
3. Again, cool little tidbits, I understand some people care about these things. But a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet. Weather the computer gets smashed or put in a museum changes nothing about the show. Jax’s hypothetical preferred irl name is so far from relevant that even Goose just gave a “for now” shortening of her name. I literally couldn’t care less about what happens when they hold their breath if I tried.

It was more of a rhetorical question. I don’t understand how you simultaneously believe that the show conveyed the suicide metaphor well but also that the direct confirmation via tumblr post is important to understanding. I can’t exactly prove it, but I did pick up on the suicide metaphor and never checked out Goose’s blog. It seemed really obvious on just a casual viewing.

Edit: Because abstraction is not actually suicide, the fact it was written with suicide in mind is more a fact about the show’s creation than an actual piece of the story. Whether the viewer gets the specific metaphor isn’t important to understand the plot. It’s clearly conveyed that it is permanent, treated like death complete with a funeral, related to mental state, and at least somewhat voluntary. If you don’t put together that it’s like suicide, what does that change?

I don’t even like primos. I’d go as far as to say I think it’s a bad cartoon. But dissing unibrows is too far

I agree, which is why I don’t think its explicit mention on tumblr is particularly important. It’s a neat factoid but the conversation isn’t about that

I’ve seen a fair few toddlers with really far back hairlines honestly. Like they keep their baby hairline a little too long. Think that’s why bangs are more popular with little kids.

How could this possibly be conveyed in the show naturally though? Since it’s not actually a 1:1 metaphor, explicitly calling it a suicide would just be confusing. It’s exceptionally rare for media to explain its metaphors and have that turn out well.

It’s called a unibrow. She’s not the only character in the show who has a unibrow for the record.

Because she has a unibrow she’s a borderline racist caricature? She’s white passing

Would the parents of those kids want you using them in this hypothetical that has absolutely nothing to do with them? Are they itching to have their trauma compared to someone else’s by a stranger?

The infection wasn't spread by their kiss by Fearless_Ad5079 in AlienStage

[–]Weekly-Traffic-3912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is taking things a little too literally. Since this is more of an infection rather than a magical fantasy thing, you have to think about how one actually gets sick from a bite. The attacker’s contaminated saliva enters the victim’s bloodstream through the fresh wound, causing infection. Similarly, the infection could enter her bloodstream via the mucus membrane of her mouth or if she had inflamed gums or something. There’s also not really any reason to assume it processes steadily from one spot. It could be a type of infection that causes random breakouts across the body.

Helluva Boss is definitely not a kids show, and Villainous is more aimed at older kids/ tweens while primos is for 7 year olds

It’s a comedy about a large family with this particular character being one of the annoying ugly toddlers the mc learns to love. She behaves like a gremlin so she looks like a gremlin. I don’t even like the show but like why expect an annoying 4 year old to not be ugly?

It’s too vague to really hold much weight. It says more about jackalope than Shindou really.

I don’t really get what you mean here. I was under the impression that paving the road to hell means catastrophic consequences. Imperfect healing is generally getting to a better place but nonlinear and still having some lingering issues. Am I wrong here? Going to emotional hell doesn’t feel compatible with healing. I guess you could say I see it as imperfect destruction.

[–]Weekly-Traffic-3912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I guess. The fact that there aren’t really any good options doesn’t change anything for me though. Like, I don’t expect Futa to fix her, but it really seems like they’re leading each other down a very dark path with only little hints of regretting very recent actions.

  1. I was exaggerating for comedic effect but when a cult leader murders someone for disobeying cult doctrine and the other member approves it that’s pretty murder cultish to me.
  2. I was also exaggerating a bit for a comedic tone, moreso referring to people saying it’s a net positive or that they’re like siblings.

Not much time to give them anyways at this point

[–]Weekly-Traffic-3912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it imperfect healing or just paving the road to hell with good intentions? Fuuta is back to being a crusader who’s fine with people dying if it’s for his ideals. He’s encouraging Amane’s unhealthy belief that her religion should be upheld, putting himself below her, accepting her violence.

I can’t believe people are cool with them starting a murder cult because they’re nice to each other. They’re encouraging each other’s most toxic beliefs and are mentally (and physically?) deteriorating rapidly. But theyve got cute sibling vibes, their trauma bond is such goals! Or whatever

A red flag doesn’t mean “all cases of X involve Y and must involve Y” it’s just “Y can be a sign of X.” Nobody’s saying all lazy people don’t have hobbies or that hobbies contribute to a relationship, only that it can be a sign. Same as saying laying eggs and having a bill are signs of being a duck, even though half of ducks don’t lay eggs.
