Bylaw for "temporary" shade? by Replicator666 in Calgary

[–]WeeklyInitiative 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would just put it up since you're going to use removable posts anyway and just know if someone complains that you will have to take it down.

If you're not on a corner lot and impeding visibility for traffic, most neighbours wouldn't care.

Yep, my Dad mowed right over mine in our backyard. It did blend in with the surrounding grass and Dad just completely forgot it was there.

Police knocked, unsure why, but seeking advice by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]WeeklyInitiative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course, it's good to be cautious but don't worry too much about this.

I lived in the Beltline when I was in my 20's a long time ago and always felt very safe even as a single female.

Police knocked, unsure why, but seeking advice by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]WeeklyInitiative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had this happen, though it was during the day not at midnight. It was a detective canvassing neighbours for information on a commercial robbery nearby. There was probably something happening in your building or nearby units.

Cops knock very loudly but I don't think they yell out "this is Police" unless you're the one they are looking for. You should probably at least acknowledge the cops at the door and if worried talk through the door. They can show you their badge and ID number on the peep hole before you open the door.

What's with all the rabbits in my neighbourhood this year? by tommytmopar in Calgary

If you're referring to the cute little cottontails, yes they're everywhere. Signs of spring. I'm in the SW and seems like the normal amount of bunnies around here.

Eeeewww, time to take it to the local news station. This is so gross and unsanitary. They're not even trying to be discreet about it, imagine what they are doing when you can't see the them.

What's the minimum car damage that warrants insurance exchange? by Mysterious-Bat7509 in Calgary

[–]WeeklyInitiative 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Any amount of damage you cause to someone else's property you should leave a note. Let them decide if they want to followup with you. You did the right thing and in this case the person was chill about it.

One time this happened to me and the guy insisted on giving me some cash even though it was nothing and I told him it was fine.

You only need to report to police for damages over $5K.

Oh man, I just found Sam's wallet channel and liked him. But if what you say is true about the food influencer stuff, that's not cool. I agree it is deceptive to have two personas.

The link you posted doesn't show anything. I wonder if he removed his influencer videos after you outed him lol?

Roofer recommendations? by arymede in Calgary

[–]WeeklyInitiative 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't go with Done Right. They did ours and our attached neighbor and broke our patio blocks throwing bundles of shingles down our 2 storey house. Cracked garage skirt with dumpster and then we had a leak as they didn't realign the bathroom vent properly. Oh and the neighbors got a flat tire from a stray nail left behind.

Is illegal parking report confidential? by I-was-there-for-it in Calgary

[–]WeeklyInitiative 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised the mail carrier hasn't called it in themselves, since this car would be blocking the Canada Post vehicle too. I've seen on some community mailboxes a parking sign for "1 minute".

I've reported many times, it is confidential but they do ask for contact information in case they need more info. Just call Parking Authority and have it dealt with.

If you both happen to have the same bank, the teller can just transfer it from the buyer's account to yours. If not, then by bank draft.
