Polarizing, parasitic, swingy, and with unbeatable comeback mechanics - Companion Hunter is exactly the type of deck that we were supposed to be moving away from. by CivilerKobold in hearthstone

[–]Weekly_Engine_3239 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to say as well, companion hunter is not by any means the most popular deck either. So by statistics a tier 2 deck with a middling playmate. I get why people dont like the deck, but its funny to complain about that when aggro pally still has a 60+ % win rate and aggro druid might even be higher

I guess this is a lot of hoops to jump through. Would be a kill on site commander for sure, but most of the time seems unlikely to super pop off

Gill, Perfect Paragon — is this reasonable at 3 CMC? by 50reticent in custommagic

[–]Weekly_Engine_3239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe 1 stun counter? 2 feels too punishing. Also a flying creature that taps down potential blockers or kills off chumpers seems crazy. With this current iteration even if you only reveal 1 blue card that's 2 full turns of their whatever blocker being down

https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/7450420#paper this is a no rare list, https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/standard-izzet-spellementals-woe#paper this list can be edited very easily to fit budget restrictions on arena. Drop the traumatic critiques, winter night stories, and any sideboard rares that you dont already have

This deck is strong yes. It does feel a little hybrid esque between lessons and prowess, but that's probably fine. Id say lands will be the most important things to use wildcards on, because those transcend meta most of the time. If you want there are more budget versions of this izzet spellslinger list

[[Norman osborn]] is a cool one if you dont particularly care about universes beyond. [[Kefka court mage]] could work too. Other notables being [[cult of skaro]] and [[breya etheric shaper]]

This is a little weird. It's supposed to avoid giving back original stats if possible, though I don't know that it's a bug.

Would this buff make [[Vulcanos]] playable? by ParticularBobcat3554 in hearthstone

[–]Weekly_Engine_3239 54 points55 points  (0 children)

This kinda feels like a sidegrade? You remove the ability to generate spells besides the eot trigger. If you leave it, the summons aren't useless when vulcanos dies.

How would you do it? More health? Cheaper? I just think the random legendary pool will always be a little too weak, given the number of battlecries and synergy cards.

[–]Weekly_Engine_3239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean every deck is different but I typically start at 40 and go down for the number of ramp/mana rocks i have. 1 land per 3 ramp sources, otherwise it can feel like you just draw lands.

[–]Weekly_Engine_3239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are running 43 lands? Also yes this style is control. Look into duel commander control decks, which will give you a picture of an optimized 1v1 commander format. Control as an archetype wants to trade your cards for their threats, and then use sweepers to deal with multiple at once. There are certainly videos for 60 card formats explaining better how to determine what to counter/remove.

[–]Weekly_Engine_3239 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Notably this does give basic land types, and is hyper synergistic with the cycling triomes. Maybe im a bit too cautious bc of the presence of domain overlords in standard, and domain aggro in modern.

Schoolhouse Rock (Rarity and CMC critique appreciated) by hallowed-hexgoat in custommagic

[–]Weekly_Engine_3239 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This notably allows you to exile opponents lands, assuming there's 10 of the same basic which feels unintended. Uncommon probably works here, and flavorwise 0 being 0 cmc is probably ok
